Schmidt, Constance Jean

Constance Jean Schmidt (née Lascoe), affectionately known as Connie, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, in New Lenox, Illinois, at the age of 84. Born on June 7, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, Connie was the cherished daughter of Lithuanian immigrants and grew up on the Southside of Chicago. She was a proud alumna of St. Christina Grade School and Maria High School, and later earned a secretarial degree that led to a long and rewarding career in the banking industry.

Connie met her beloved husband, Bob, on a ski trip sponsored by St. Christina Church. Their marriage, spanning over five decades, was a beautiful testament to their love and commitment, despite their contrasting personalities. Connie was the true matriarch of the Schmidt family, embodying strength, kindness, generosity, resilience, and patience. She was the cornerstone of her family, guiding them through challenges and celebrations alike with unwavering support and love. Connie's laughter, generosity, and love for desserts will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Richard J. Modell Funeral Home, located at 12641 W. 143rd, Homer Glen, IL 69491, on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM CST.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for the following day, Friday, September 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard Church, 13030 W. 143rd St., Homer Glen, IL 60491.

A funeral luncheon will immediately follow the mass at Fox's Pizza & Irish Pub, 9655 W. 143rd St., Orland Park, IL 60462.
