FOR A SHORT TIME I KNEW YOU ILL NEVER FORGET YOU A TRUE FRIEND

Liz, Kenny and Bella,

Not a day goes by now that I find myself wondering how you are. I guess the biggest testiment to Clay would be to keep living, laughing and loving. It's up to us to keep Kenny's memories of Clay alive, and to convey to Bella that she was absolutely adored and the apple of her father's eye.

Liz, he loved you so very much. God truely intervened and changed both of your lives in the last three years. While we ask, "Why did this have to happen, Lord?" it becomes evident that we will not know that answer until the end of our journey. At the end of the road there will be Mighty arms reaching for you, holding the answers at the end of the road. He will not leave you or forsake you.

Hey "Onion", (can't you just hear Grandpa calling your that?), we send prayers up for you every day. We're going to miss our Santa Clay (remember when he tried to get Kenny to the dinner table the first Thanksgiving he met us by saying "All kids under...15 who sit down will get money!" Poor Vanessa who was 16 at the time got shut out. John got a $20 I think, but he was already sitting, cuz he was hungry! Grace came in second and got a $5. Kenny decided this was lucrative and sat down for third prize. I cracked up, it was so funny! I think it was that day his generosity named him Santa Clay, and of course your generousity to our family didn't end there. We'll be there to keep him alive in spirit, for you and for the children for as long as we are here.

We love you.

To Clay's family, my deepest regrets. Clay helped numerous kids from the neighborhood with the opportunities he provided. His generosity put more than one person through college. Some of my experiences from that time have become the foundation for any success I have been blessed with today. The rest was just plain fun. You will be missed.
