Claude H. Weikel
Claude H. Weikel, 83, of Allentown, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Lehigh Valley Hospice, 17th and Chew. He was the husband of Connie M. (Palatella) Weikel, they were married 63 years in February. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John and Jennie (Harner) Weikel. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi RC Church in Allentown. Claude was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 32 years, retiring in 1980. He was founding director of the Parkland Youth Center. Member of the Greenwalds Fire Company for 50 plus years. He was the former Captain of South Whitehall Fire Police. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus 528. He was past commander of the order of Alhambra and past president of the TPA post L. He served in the Army Air Corp. during World War II where he received the Purple Heart. Survivors: Wife; sons, Thomas C. husband of Diane of Hanover, Terry D., husband of Susan of Downingtown; daughter, Kathleen A., wife of Richard Cole of Allentown; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Services: Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2007 at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 11th and Washington Streets, Allentown. remember me but prior to my marriage, I lived at 528 Gordon Street and you lived at 538 Gordon St. Claude was a member of the Allentown Police Department at the time and later became an employee of the U.S. Postal Service.
