Just thinking of him and the whole family and days of yesterday when we were neighbors.

Carrie and family,

Mike and I did not hear of Chris' passing until I read in the Guerin news that there was a memoriam for him. We got on the internet and found out about his horrible crash. We have nothing but wonderful memories of the old neighborhood and hanging around with you both. (Fond memories of the short-lived teen club too.) Chris always had a smile for everyone. Please know that we are thinking of you and hope that you get this message even though it is very late. In peace and friendship...

Dear Zelko Family,

Our trips to Eagle River will never be the same.

The long nights at The Honey Bear or Denoyers, singing Sweet Caroline with The Wrecking Crew, fishing on the chain, knocking back some cold ones, or just relaxing and chewing the fat.

We were always among the best of people and those whom we will always consider the best of friends.

The friendships made in this wonderful town will last an eternity.

For those that have never experienced it, it is hard to describe the weekend bonds that held so tightly between such an awesome group.

No one really cared about the reality we left back home. It is a place we all come to forget our day to day existence and live for the moment. We all just want the weekends to last forever.

Passing west on Hwy 70 will always bring a tear. It will also bring memories of great times with great people.

We will always continue our Eagle River journeys. We will continue to improve our place "Up Nort" as Chris, Joe, and Uncle Don did all the time. We will also continue to spread tales of Chris and Bill to all who will listen.

We are here for your family if you ever are in need. Do not ever hesitate to call.

Please remember.....

Chris and Bill died doing what they loved - Having fun. Although this loss seems so senseless, their memories will keep smiles on our faces for generations.

Please take care and God Bless your entire family.

Sincerely -

Paul & Kristie Killion

Mrs. Zelko and Family:

Our deepest sympathies to you and your family on your loss. As a parent of a child you teach, please know if you need anything..do not hesitate to let us know. May you and your family be comforted in your fond memories and cherished times.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

We had the privilege of knowing Chris through Franklin Park Panthers youth hockey where Emily and Mike were on teams with our son, including this current season. As those who are involved in youth sports can attest, most parents are virtual strangers to each other when a season begins, but not with Chris. He had such a warmth and genuiness that extended to everyone he met, you never stayed a stranger for long . He was always quick with a smile and positive words of praise and encouragement, not only for his own children, but for each and every player on the team. He will be missed.

I've known you since Andrew had you 8 or so years ago and you are one of the nicest people I know, and having to see you at the games has been a pleasure. I share in the disbelief of this tragedy and my heart aches as a wife and mother as well. Please know, that our prayers for your strength will be with us continually. With love, Rebecca Arias and family
