As Pat and Gert likely remember, it was 1975. I was a lowly freshman (9th grade at Edison Jr.High) and Chris was a senior at Champaign Central when we first met during my try-outs for the varsity tennis team. Well, I made it and Chris and I ended up playing #1 and #4 singles, respectively, and we were doubles partners. Although he was the captain of the team and a senior, Chris always made sure that I was included as part of the team. In fact, many times he went out of his way to pick me up after school, take me to practice and then drop me off at home - always in the green Mustang! After Chris' graduation, we lost touch, but I have, and will not ever lose, those memories. Thank-you Chris.

Dear Gertrude,
The news of Chris' death was devastating. I can only imagine how inconsolable your anguish is. Chris was a brave and immensely loyal man, a brother you can be proud of. Be comforted in knowing his torment is over and he is at last at peace. I pray that you, his children, and his loved ones soon overcome your grief and find an everlasting peace, as Chris has. With my sincerest empathy,

We must have been around 12 years old but we were great friends and loved tennis. That summer, we ended up competing at the finals of the Twin City Tennis Open. For me, I remember the first time experience of being really "dialed in" during the final match. Chris won, but win or lose, for two young kids, the match was a big deal, and a great experience.
I also remember many sleep-overs with late night runs to Eisner grocery for Pop Tarts.
Regretfully, we went to different schools and lost touch.
Chris had a wonderful childhood with a very close, supportive, and loving family.
Thank you for fond memories.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls.

Having lost my son at age 20, it seems that when loved ones are lost to us so young, it is more difficult to understand. Try to remember the happy times, and those memories will become treasures. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Carmen and the girls and his family. I will always remember Chris' generosity, laughter and loyal spirit. I liked him instantly when we met...and have fond memories of a loving husband who adored his wife and family. He made me laugh, and always told it like it was..the world will be a little quieter and sadder without him in it. May God protect his family and watch over him.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Kelly, I did not know him but I know the loss of losing a love one in death. I find comfort in the Bible where it say "Our Heavely Father will actually swallow up death forever, and he will certainly wipe the tears from all faces". I hope the family find comfort in this text.
