Dear Terry,

I learned just today about your sister and that she passed in such a tragic way. While I saw a feature on the WGN 9:00 News a couple of weeks ago, I wasn't sure if the Christine they were talking about was a relation. Now I know better.

I can't begin to tell you how badly I feel for you and your family. My thoughts are with you.

Take care.

Dear Olender Family,

My family and I send our most sincere sympathy on the loss of your Christine. Little do we think that something like this could happen to someone we love. It touches us all;even the people from Cragin were not immune to the terror that struck New York. We pray for you and your family. Know that Christine is up in heaven and you will all be together again.

Dear Family and Friends of Christine Olender,

I have a Christine of my own. She is 49 years old and lives with her family in Perth, Australia. Named for my grandmother and as precious now as she was the day she was born.

I have two grandchildren and one great grandchild through her. Though I do not see them often, how blessed I am that I CAN see them and write them and adore them. You cannot hold or love your Christine anymore. That does not make her any the less precious or dear to all of you.

We can ask why and the answer will not come, there are things that are beyond all human understanding.

Yet I know this beautiful young woman is safe in God's world and will never again know cruelty or pain or inhumanity. Take comfort in that.

As a mother and grandmother my heart cries for you and your pain and I pray that the love of friends and people you do not know will be there to sustain you today and for always.

Sincerely and with love and prayers

I remain,

Dorothy F. Doherty

Terry,

I was so sad to hear of your loss. My condolences to you and your family as you try to deal with this very tragic loss. Remember that those special people who are dearly loved will always live on in your memory.

"When people walk on the land, they leave their breath wherever they go. So whenever we walk, that particular spot on the earth never forgets us, and when we go back to these places, we know that the people who have lived there are in some way still there, and that we can actually partake of their breath and of their spirit."

Please take care and know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. I have three of my own. I almost cried when I saw the notice in the paper. There is nothing I can say or write to make this pain go away. I wish there was. I wish there was a way to make that terrible day go away. My love goes out to you, Mom and Dad, and to her brother and sister. I'm sure you were very proud of her. I don't see her age but she looks to be around 20. If she was in NY it meant that she was trying to better her life and accomplish something. That's what you do in NY even as a tourist.

Last night I went to dinner with my boss. I was layed off and this morning he drove the company car back to Mass. 9/11 touches us all. But when I read your notice I felt ashamed for feeling sad about my situation. I wish I could help you with your burden. If there is something I can do let me know, you have my email address.
