Charles Weiss Obituary

Weiss, Charles age 90, of Springfield, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed Monday, April 8, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center, in Springfield, IL, born August 19, 1911, in Russia, son of the late Morris and Faiga Weiss, husband of the late Molly Brody. father of Barry (Sandra) Weiss of Springfield, IL, and Sandra (Sheldon) Sagan of Riverwoods, IL, grandfather of six grandchildren and great- grandfather of four, brother of the late Rose and Eva, Harry, Bill and Sam. Mr. Weiss was self employed as an Auctioner and a member of Temple Israel. He was a Navy Veteran and survived the sinking of USS Calhoun off the coast of IWO Jima on April 6, 1944. Memorial service 11 a.m., Thursday, at Temple Israel, 1140 W. Governor, Springfield, IL. Graveside service 12 p.m., on Friday, at Westlawn Cemetery, Chicago, Rabbi Barry Marks officiating.
