Vander Wey, Charles William May 10, 1940 - October 2, 2006 Passed away at his daughter Julie's home, with family around him in Florida. He was the son of the late Frank and Mildred, father of Julie (soul mate John Crouch), Cynthia (Kurt) Horst, grandfather of Diedra and Nathan Horst, brother of Richard (Frances) and the late John (Gladys), uncle of John (Dawn) and Jacalyn (William) Vargo. Mr. Vander Wey lived in the Villiage of Burnham for over forty years. Known to many as Chuck or Charlie, he served in the U.S. Marines. He was a retired machinist, an avid collector, a lover of cat's, a painter, and loved to work in his yard. He had a green thumb for hot peppers and cheri tomatoes. Charlie spiced up his life with hot peppers and hot sauce, which he ate daily, never finding one that was hot enough. He was a great conversationalist as well as a listener. Dad, Charlie, was a very loving and giving man. Always ready to lend a helping hand. He cared very deeply for his family and friends. He is, and will be missed deeply by all. Condolences for the Vander Wey family can be sent to 410 Grant Street, Port Orange, FL 32127. Donations can be made to Animal Welfare League, 10305 Southwest Highway, Chicago Ridge, IL 60415 (708-636-8586). "He walked by himself, and all places were alike to him." Kipling

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
