Emil,Pat & Family, Let me again express my deepest sympathy for your loss of Charlie, a great brother, borther-in-law and an all-around wonderful person. Although I hadn't seen Charlie for many years, I was extremely hurt to learn of his untimely death from Susie Webster. As you know,I had the pleasure of working with Charlie many years ago at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital & Medical Center in cart exchange along with Susie and many other friends. I also had the pleasure of knowing you both there also. As we all know, Charlie always had a smile for everyone and great sense of humor. He was a great co-worker, very talented artist, great dancer and a wonderful friend. He will truly be missed by all! Charlie will always have a place in my heart..May Peace be with you always.
Sincerely,
Denise A. Patin-Haritos

Dear Junior, Lou & Fran:
First let me convey my sympathies regarding the passing of Charlie. Yesterday I happened to mention both Charlie & Lou regarding my first cigarette while I was having lunch with my wife, sister-in-law & husband, brother-in-law & wife and a few very close friends after the funeral for my wife’s mother. You can’t image my shock as I was looking in the paper last night once we got home and saw Charlie’s obituary. My mother-in-law passed away last Saturday and this has been a difficult week for our family so I feel badly that I will not be able to attend either Charlie’s wake or the funeral.
I have such fond memories of Charlie. He would often come up to stay at Lou’s parents house in Skokie during the summer. As soon as I read about his death I could picture his face in my mind and hear his voice. He had dark very curly hair he combed straight back and he had a chipped front tooth. Charlie’s voice was raspy and slightly high pitched. His laugh was also very raspy and I remember we had a lot of fun so he laughed very often. It didn’t matter whether we were teasing one of the Mann kids or making fun of Michael Greenfield’s mother yelling at him, the Moon and his family or Joel Ranis’ running like he was in slow motion, Charlie had a hardy laugh and it was very infectious.
Unfortunately it has been over 25 years since I have talked with or seen Charlie. I still remember like it was yesterday Charlie and Junior coming to Lou’s house for one of the holidays arriving in Junior’s 65 or 66 Blue Riviera. Junior really loved that car and we thought it was so cool too. I also remember being invited to Uncle Larry & Aunt Lou’s in South Holland one year for (I think it was) Easter. I had never been to their house before. I always saw them when they came up for Christmas. I went with Lou and his Mom & Dad in their 65 Burgundy LaSabre. Fran was there with Barry, Lisa and Steven and of course Junior, Charlie and their Dad were there too.
I am really sorry that someone like Charlie had such a short life. I’m sure he touched many many people and left them with lasting memories the same way he has with me. He is sure to be missed by his family and friends. Fortunately they can be thankful to have had such a wonderful friend, cousin and brother in their lives.
Sincerely
Len Karson

Ernie, Pat and Ernie
I am so sorry to hear about Charles' death. Even though I haven't seen him recently, all last week he was in my thoughts. He was such a wonderful person and we always had such good times together.
I still have gifts that he gave me when we had "The Best Friends Club" birthday parties - both were very thoughtful - just like him.
And his art for the Cicada T-shirts in 1990 was enjoyed by a thousand people.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I won't be able to attend any of the services, as I am out of town for work.
