Cathy's world leaves behind one of kindness, compassion and humor. Our time together was short, but I continue to feel privileged to be included in her family.

Cathy is alive in my dreams, I miss her not being here for her beautiful grandchildren and daughter. My sweet, smart beautiful daughter is gone and I´ll never get used to her not being here.

I fondly remember Cathy. Thinking of you, Joy.

I can honestly say that the memory of my friend Cathy is alive and well and in heart. There have been so many times that I have thought of her either because of a song or just feeling her spirit around me.
I am truly grateful to have known her and called her a friend.

I love and miss you so much

Joy and Missy, I was a very old friend of Cathys and was searching google and ran across the news of her passing. I was at a loss and deeply saddened. i am so sorry for your loss . Cat was one of the few people in my life which could make me smile and gave me hope. I have not had any contact with her since the late 70s and have thought about her often,she was one of a kind and will be missed by everyone whose life she has touched. Missy i had no idea she had a daughter and that makes me think that her spirit and love of life will live thru you. Sorry again for your loss.

Happily with Joy and Missy in our lives, Cathy remains all around us. xo

It's been four years since Cathy left us...there are no words to describe the sadness and grief I feel each day.

Life for Joy and Missy remained dark for many seasons, as if winter would never end, but with the warm sun, Missy has bloomed into a beautiful woman, full of life and reflecting Cathy's spirit. Its a good day.

Cat was a dear friend who I frequently got to hang out with while I attended Coe College. She was always a ray of sunshine in my stressful school schedule!! A genuine embodiment of FUN!

To quote Pat Loud, "now I must learn the language of grief,which is stilted,solemn and scary." It's been three years and I'm still trying ...I've lost my husband, both parents, two brothers and too many dear friends, but none can compare to losing Cathy.

Our sympathy to Missy and Joy. Cathy was a very loving and generous person and she will be missed.

i am sorry to hear this 10 month late my heart just sunk,i survived tumor removal from my brain i don't know if i could take this one. cat i am sure going to miss you love always picky if you could see me from up there i am going to start painting again for you.

Cat was my roomie for a bit at Coe College C.R.....I moved away to Dallas. I never forgot her warm touch and spirit. I will always remember the week-end in Flossmoor and the hospitality of Joy...I have missed her much over the years. Peace to Joy and Missy. I just learned of the news today. My heart aches.

Mrs. Buddig -- I'm so shocked and saddened to have learned of Kat's death. I was one of her roommates in college and she was truly a special person. Such a talented artist. Let me also express my sympathy at learning of Carl's death. He, too, was a wonderful man.

I just learned of Cathy's passing from a dear friend of mine in Flossmoor. I have been gone for many years but the memory of our bond and friendship has never left my heart. You have my deepest sympathy and I am so sorry for your loss.

I always loved Cathy and am so sad to hear of her passing. I will always remember her.

I am stunned and saddened by the news of Cathy's all too premature death. She was such a special person to me, and an integral part of my life from 6th grade, until I left Chicago back in 1984. Even after I moved, we kept up, through my mom, who worked at Mark Shale on Michigan Avenue, Cathy used to go in, try on clothes, and they'd shoot the breeze for hours. I have so many wonderful, vivid memories of my friend "The Beef Heiress" as I used to call her. Deep conversations. Stupid conversations. Fun, heartbreak. We covered it all. She was warm, caring.., a gifted and talented artist. Funny, self-deprecating, and let's be honest, the object of so many boy's affections. The last time I saw her was at our 30th HS reunion, and although it it was brief, it was as though we'd never been away from each other. She touched so many of our lives, and will be greatly missed.

Dear Joy:
I want to express my deepest sympathies. Being Jean Winston's older sister I have warm memories of Cathy being over at our house many times. She was always fun and smiling and I know Jeannie valued her friendship for many years. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and Cathy's daughter, Missy. The words do not exist that can ease the pain of the loss of a child.

To Joy...my deepest sympathy. I know how your heart is broken. No one should ever have to suffer such a loss. No one. You are blessed to have your beautiful granddaughter with you to bring you some much needed comfort. Cathy is in your heart forever. She's all around you now.

To Melissa..I cannot imagine losing a mother at such an early age. I pray that God gives you strength and touches your heart. I am sure your mom will be watching over you FOREVER. I am sorry that I wasn't able to say goodbye to Cathy personally. I only just learned of her passing. The last time I saw her was when she came to Jessica's services. I would have liked to have been there for her now. From the age of 10, whenever I saw Cathy, she always greeted me with a sincere smile and a warm genuine hug. She would always say "I love you".
A wonderful way to be in this world.

Joy, I was just informed about Cathy's passing. I will never forget, as Jeannie Winston wrote, crossing Flossmoor Road to see my best friend in the neighborhood. The memories are endless.

Hey Joy and Missy, Shawn and I just heard about your daughter and mom, we are so sorry. She was a wonderful woman who went out of her way for people. She will be missed. Uncle Shane Pfeifer and Uncle Shawn Divilbiss.

When I received the call of Cathy's passing, a piece of my youth just slipped away. Though we were very young back in the day, she definitely touch my heart forever. I am glad to see from the other notes that she lived a wonderful life. My sympathy to Joy and the family. God bless you all.

Me and my mom was shocked to hear it this way it still hurts our hearts that she is gone , but never forgotten . I first met Cat from my husband Kurt years before we were married. She immediately embraced me with warmth and friendship. She was creative, generous and a spontaneous spirit. What a bright light she was and we cherish the memories we have of her.

My condolences to the family and friends of Catherine. I went to college with Cat and knew her to be a talented, spirited, and beautiful woman. She will be missed but her memory will be forever memorialized in her works of art and writing. There is a great comfort in that.

Although I hadn't been in touch with Cathy for many years, I cannot imagine a world without her in it. We have truly lost a treasure.

My mom called me first thing this morning to tell me of Cathy's passing. An entire floodgate of wonderful memories opened. Cathy was an integral part of my childhood. We spent years crossing Flossmoor Road to spend thousands of days and nights together. She was such a gifted artist and I envied her skills as she would try to teach me to draw - no doubt a futile task. Her popularity was endless both at school and at Red Pine Camp for Girls. She had a free spirit that made people want to be with her.

Cathy will be deeply missed as she touched so many people's lives.

I am deeply hurt and sad by the news of Cathy's passing. Cathy and I were good friends in 10th & 11th grades at HF. Her birthday was 4/10 & mine 4/12 and over the years we have always connected
