April 2, 2015

Hello everyone, I'm Michelle, Cary's wife. Six years just doesn't seem possible. So many many things have happened in six years. Alysa is 21 and has a baby boy named Gabriel. Emilly is 18 graduating this year and a very accomplished dancer(thanks to her Daddy Cary) Christopher his mini me will be 11 in August, he's a carbon copy of her wonderful Father. We have come a long way, but will always miss him dearly. Today is always hard on us, but I know he would want him laughing so we tell funny stories, through laughter and tears we know he is always with us. Please make sure you tell a funny crazy Cary story, he would want everyone to laugh, that's what he did best. God bless Michelle and kids

I want to thank everyone who helped the kids and I over the last month. All the phone calls, people stopping by, the prayers from many, the support has been amazing. There is a place in our hearts for all of you. I am truly touched by how many peoples lives Cary impacted in one way or another, we have all lost a VERY special man. Some called him Daddy, Husband, Son, Brother, Cousin,or Friend, but he was a blessing to all of us, and I can say he will be missed deeply by everyone who knew him. To his Yellow brothers, I love you all, to say the least you guys are Real Men. To my family, you held me up when I couldn't stand. To my closest friends(you know who you are)you have not left my side and I will never forget what you have done for us. When you think of Cary, remember to laugh, always put God first, be true to yourself and others. Live life, laugh often, love always. Thank you again to everyone.

Dear Michelle and the Shapiro family,

I can only imagine the loss you are all feeling because I myself cannot get rid of the huge lump in my throat each time I think he's gone.

Cary has always been a true friend and there is a pain in my heart that I never want to forget, because Cary was the type of person you could never forget.

On the brighter side of it, with that pain comes multiple memories of the laughter and the times we spent with Cary.

Each time I begin to think about Cary I start to cry... then I think about my experiences with Cary and I start to laugh. This has caused my wife to believe I'm going through "MEN"opause.

I will forever be searching for the Angel with the spritzer bottle and clown wig cause then I'll know I've found Cary again.

Cary and his family will always be in our heart and prayers.

Sincerely,
Petey, Jackie, Crystal, & Colin (the Peterson family)

To the Shapiro family, May God's grace be with you during your time of grief.

The last time I saw Cary was at the Saint Thecla reunion and we reminisced and had a really good laugh. I will always have fond memories of his fun ways and big heart and smiling face. What a great guy!
I can only assume that God had a shortage of humor and mischievousness in Heaven.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

The memory of Cary and I go back to the game of loanman. He was the fastest kid I ever had to catch. And he would say I was the fastest kid he had to catch. That memory lives forever. And just for the record, for any of you skitchers out there Cary held the record for the longest skitch ever. He skitched on a bus starting at Milwaukee & Devon all the way to jefferson Park Terminal. That record will stand in the name of Cary Shapiro forever. With our love and thoughts to the Shapiro Family.

Our family has suffered a great loss. We are numb and in shock at Cary's untimely and tragic death. Somehow, together, we will survive but only with the help of many friends and prayers.

Cary and Michelle shared a special love that flowed over onto anyone nearby, with their laughter that was sweet and contagious. Alysa, Emilly and Christopher had a Daddy who loved and worshiped them and made everyday special. He swelled with pride and tears at their smallest successes and biggest accomplishments. Cary left a legacy of love to enrich our lives, short as it was, enough to sustain us through these very painful days of saying good-bye to a unique man. He loved life, had a heart as big as Texas, was never at a loss of a funny story or a helping hand.

Cary will be dearly missed by many lifelong friends and truly missed by his family. Go with God, Cary, and keep Him laughing. We love You.

Micelle, I'm so sorry about Cary, he was one of a kind. A laugh a minute. We worked midnites together the last few years at Yellow and shared a table at lunchtime, we still don't know how he ate so much and he never did get a lunchbox. He will be missed. Shappy always made us happy, but this is sad.

I will never forget Cary Shapiro and the times we had. Cary, Buff, Brennan, Jimmy Dean, Chisi, And myself driving back home from Phil's Beach, in Cary's Ford Station Wagon. Joe and I were in the very back, where the seats face each other and we were smashing beer cans in his power rear window and throwing somebodys underwear around the wagon.
I never laughed so hard.

April 5, 2009

Michelle

I will miss that loving husband of yours. He was one of the boys that hung out with my sons. He was just over by my house for a spagetti dinner a few weeks ago. It was the night that he went with your son Christopher (CJ) and my son Tom and his son Tommy to see the Black Hawks. He always called me Mrs. S. and I loved it. He could make you laugh just by hearing him laugh. We will miss him so much that it hurts. I love the one about pop goes the weasel song and the cat that Tom told me the day he did it. Poor Cat I said and he laughed. It is something that Cary would do without any malice just to laugh. My heart goes out to you and the children. You and your children are in my prayers.

Cary loved my sister Michelle for who she was and he made her happier than I've ever seen her; she and the kids are never going to be the same. Cary and I shared a love of music and laughter and our family was lucky to have him around for the few short years since 2001. We are all trying to help Michelle and the kids and I encourage everyone to make a donation to the memorial fund set up for Michelle and the kids . . . . they'll need our help for a long time. We love and miss you Cary - our condolences to your family. Keep on smiling and laughing where ever you are Cary - you're one of a kind!!

Cary was someone special to my whole family. He married my cousin ( Michelle ) and brought great happiness to her and the kids. At family gatherings he was the one who made us all laugh with his jokes. Great memories, I love you Michelle and I love you Cary. I was devistated to hear about Cary's passing. I'm going to miss saying hello to "CARY" followed by his resounding "KARI" but most of all, his unusual sense of humor that ALWAYS made me laugh. I've got a lot of memories playing poker, hanging out, and most recent, riding on the bike with my husband, Cary and many others. Cary had a way of making all of us laugh so hard, we'd cry. He was truly one-in-a-million.

My prayers and thoughts go out to his family. He was loved by many.

Shooby or Shappy or whatever nickname we had for Cary made us all feel close to him and he responded by making us laugh. As sad as I am right now for our loss and all of the lives that Cary touched, it only takes a moment to reflect back and smile at the great times he gave us. I cannot pinpoint one specific "Cary" moment because there were so many. I personally will never forget the many cards games we played, the weekends at Flanfest and the laughter we shared. We may have lost something truly special but God just received a Harley-riding big hearted comedian in his corner. Heaven is gonna be someplace special.

April 5, 2009

We are so sorry for the loss of Cary- I have such fond memories of Navarre street growing up with him and your family- and no matter what- Cary would make me laugh- whenever seeing him over the years- always a smile and a hearty laugh from him! it was contagious!
