Cary:

Although we only knew each other for 8 years, you were a great help to me at the WC, always taking time to solve my problems. Your great personality always made the van trip to Homewood easier for all of us. Most of all, you were a great friend and I will miss you.

Cary was a good friend of mine. He was a very caring person. I remember when I had my triple bypass, Cary made it a point to sit down and talk to me when I returned to work just to see how I was doing and how I was feeling. It made me feel so good knowing he cared.

I remember during summers a bunch of us would get together after work and play some basketball at a nearby park. I never knew Cary played basketball until he showed me some of his moves. I'm glad we were on the same team. Someday we will play again!!!

Since I have been retired I haven't had much contact with friends that I have known so many years. Cary was a true friend to me. He was very caring. When I had my triple bypass, Cary made a point to sit down and talk with me about how I was feeling. It made me feel good knowing how much he cared. He was a very caring individual.

I remember one summer a few of us after work would go to a park nearby and play some basketball. I never realized that Cary could play basketball. We were on the same team and he showed me some good moves. Some day we will play again!!!

I was so shocked and sorry to hear about Cary. I remember him as a good, kind and caring person. It is sad beyond belief when the world loses someone like this so young. Judi, I am sad for you.

I was sorry to hear of Cary's illness two days before he passed on. I was shocked when we were standing in the hallway outside his room at Northwestern when an aide stated he had died. Cary was a good worker and avid fishing companion. On one occasion, He caught his first 2 pound Illinois bass. I am sure he will be sorely missed. My condolences to Judy and the family.

I asked my son Sean to give me a memory of his Uncle Cary. He said he remembered that while visiting him from Arizona in the winter Cary helped him make snowballs outside. I guess they must have been throwing them at someone as he said Cary kept handing them to him quickly! Sean still has a Cubs baseball on his bookcase that Cary gave him one Christmas. He hasn't seen him in many years, but says he remembers him as being a very nice person who laughed alot.

I'm very sad to hear about Cary.

My own words are inadequate, so I will use a quote from John Taylor:

"While we are mourning the loss of our friend, others are rejoicing to meet him behind the veil."

I have known Cary since we were kids. We went to grammar school together, worked together, played together skied together. Cary has always been one of my favorite people. Good natured and good hearted. I saw Cary a few days before he died. As ill as he was, he still managed that great big Cary smile. I will always remember his smile. Good bye Cary. I will miss you.

I got to know Cary at Wisconsin Central. He was a great guy, with a wonderful, positive attitude towards life; someone whose smile could be counted on. We were all a bit better for having known him, and much saddened by his death. Heartfelt condolences to his family.

I guess my friendship with Cary goes back to the late 1970's at the Milwaukee Road. We shared quite a few cigarette's while discussing the Cubs over the years as well as one night in my home in Schaumburg in 1986 over too many margaritas trying to decide if we should go to Minneapolis or not.My many memories of Cary are all good. Judy and David, you have my condolences.

Judy,

so sorry for your loss. As you might remember, I knew you and Carey ever since our Milwaukee Road days. Carey was just one heck of a guy, never a bad word about anyone, and always had a good joke to tell. My you find solice in the fact that he was loved by all who knew him

With the exception of a two year stint I did for the Soo Line in Mpls, MN-Cary and I worked together on the Milw Road and the Wisconsin Central; this probably goes back to around 1980. He was always intense at whatever the task and performed each task to the best of his ability. He was a good 'ear' when I needed someone to just listen to my troubles. We fished together a bit, too bad it was not more often. I have always been pleased to refer to him as my 'gumba' as he was and always will remain my friend. I feel that our friendship made me a better person. He will always be in my prayers as well as the family he could no longer stay with. May he rest in peace.

Cary and I met in September, 1987 at the startup of Wisconsin Central. He was always easy to talk to; he was always a great listener; he was always interesting and interested; we discussed vacations, work (at times), and sports cf. the Chicago Cubs. Cary was a decent and great guy. My condolenses to you both.

My favorite photo of Cary and David around the time Judi & Cary got married. To me the white dove was the peace Cary would bring into David's life.

Too bad we never made it to that Cougar's game, Cary. Your loss is shocking and sad. We will be ordering a Mass for you.

The last time we saw Cary was a few years ago when he and Judi came to San Francisco. We had a great time with them. Fisherman's Wharf will now have for us a new special meaning. We never thought that would be the last time we would see him. Now our old Chicagoland friend has truely become one our California memories.
