Britten Harris, Carolyn Marie 59, Carolyn was the eighth of nine children born in Jackson, TN. She earned her BA and Masters in Education from Tennessee State University. Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband of 10 years George Harris, five brothers, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and, nephews. Carolyn was a loving, and caring person. She taught for 26 years in the Chicago Public School system. She made quite an impact on the lives of many children, both in the classroom and the computer lab. She believed in her students and made them all feel special. She was an energetic and productive teacher. A woman of many talents, Carolyn was an extraordinary entrepreneur. She established and ran her own fashion boutique, acquired real estate, and once had a line of diet cookies. Wherever Carolyn went, she made a fashion statement. She wrote plays for Orleans Baptist Church, prior to joining First Baptist Congregational. Carolyn was honored by the Women United of South Shore as the Female Entrepreneur of the Year. Carolyn's services are visitation Friday, May 22, 2009 at Unity Funeral Parlor 4114 S. Michigan, Chicago 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Saturday 10:00 a.m. til noon at First Baptist Congregational Church, 1613 W. Washington, Chicago.
