Caroline Verbonse-Meagher Obituary

VerbonseMeagher, Caroline M. (Ryder) Age 94, late of Lockport, peacefully Saturday, December 1, 2012. Born in Chicago, living in Lockport for the past 70 years. Member of St. Joseph Church, Lockport for 60 years. St. Joseph School Parents Club where she was Past President and a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Caroline loved to cook, garden, sew, but most of all treasured spending time with her family and her pets. Preceded in death by her second husband, Joseph Meagher in 1999; first husband, Victor Verbonse in 1972; parents, Andrew and Lena (Derkits) Ryder; a sister, Mitzie Henke; a brother, Andrew Ryder; and stepdaughter, Mary Wahlman. Survived by her two devoted daughters, Patricia (late Richard) Smedley of St. Joseph, MI and Judy (Wayne) Waddell of Lockport; one loving grandson, Jeffrey (Sarah) Waddell; two cherished great-grandchildren, Ryan and Justin Waddell; two stepchildren, Joseph (Dorothy) and Joel (Colleen) Meagher; numerous stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dear friends also survive. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to St. Joseph Church, Lockport would be appreciated. Services will be held Wednesday, 9:30 am in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St., Lockport to St. Joseph Church, Lockport for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park. Visitation Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm.
