Carole Karstenson Obituary

Karstenson, Carole A. 88, longtime resident of Glenview and formerly of Wilmette, passed away October 23, 2014. Beloved wife of the late William; loving mother of Susan, William (Sueann), Scott (Sharon) Karstenson, Mindy (Scott) Sivright and the late John Arvid and William Jerome Karstenson; cherished grandmother of 9; proud great-grandmother of 14; and great-great-grandmother of 7. Carole was a graduate of Stevens College in Missouri, former Miss Navy, a fashion model and a longtime volunteer at Evanston Hospital. She was a pioneer animal rights activist and founder of "W.A.I.F.S., Inc." and a Humane Officer for the State of Illinois. Her concern for quality of life issues did not stop with dogs and cats, as she was a long-term supporter of The Cradle in Evanston. Memorial visitation Wednesday, October 29 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service 12:00 noon at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Rd., Glenview (just south of Lake Ave. on west side).
