Hyrams, Carlene Wingfield Sunrise February 23, 1946 and sunset July 29, 2010. Carlene was a loving friend and wife to Arthur L. Hyrams for over 20 years. She was a caring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, godmother, aunt, niece, cousin, co-worker and friend to many. A native Chicagoan, Carlene graduated from Phillips H.S. and DePaul University. She retired from the City Colleges of Chicago as a Distinguished Professor Emeritus. Carlene served for many years in the Chicago Presbytery as an Executive Presbyter and in her local congregation as an Elder in addition to many other influential posts. Carlene's devotion to multicultural integration and youth development are cornerstones in her rich legacy. She'll also be remembered by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. sisters, friends in "The Book Club" and "The Group". We celebrate Carlene's life and will remember her always.

Carlene was a dear colleague and friend. She was loyal, intelligent, sensitive, and kind. We shared many conversations. laughs, work sessions, and planning. Her spirit will always be with us. It is a joy to know her family and to have called her one of my closest friends.

There are no words to express the love that Carlene has shared or the love that I feel for her. She is with Marion now....forever in my heart.
