We did not always agree, but whatever position he espoused, he did so for what he felt was in the best interests of the community. I've missed our sometimes robust discussions.

I worked with Cal building Kohl Children's Museum in Glenview. He was a wonderful person and I grew as a manager after working with him. The world just doesn't create people like Cal everyday. I hope to leave a legacy like Cal did someday. His family must be extremely proud of his accomplishments.

I had the good fortune to have had Calvin Jay Tobin as my mentor while with Loebl, Schlossman and Hackl for over 30 years.
Cal was the ultimate architect with a strong sense of design, construction detailing, as well as the business side of architecture.
He was always ready to give advice (which I took) and spoke warmly of his family, especially Joan.
Cal was one of the most influential persons in my life. He will be missed.

I was fortunate to meet and work with Cal in the early 70's while I (we) were at Michael Reese Hospital. Cal was a gentleman and a true professional.

Cal was a strong leader in Healthcare architecture in Chicago - where I had the opportunity to meet him in the 80's; a strong advocate for The U of Michigan, Resurrection Health, and the Highland Park community. My condolences to Mike and the rest of the family.
