Calvin Sharpe Obituary

Dearly loved husband and father, Calvin Kinard Sharpe, 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on September 26, 2007.
Calvin resided with his wife of 48 years, Barbara Lamberth Sharpe, at 842 Midway Drive, Statesville. Calvin was born on March 13, 1935, to the late Kinard Calvin and Flora Thomas Sharpe. He graduated from the old Harmony High School where, on occasion, he was known for playing hooky in Allison’s Woods.
Along with his wife, left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Tina Sharpe Tutterrow (James D. Tutterrow, Jr.), a son, Calvin Kinard Sharpe, Jr. (Becky Church Sharpe); a daughter-in-law, Libby Poole Sharpe. He has five grandchildren, Pamela Ann Tutterrow, James Adam Tutterrow (Amanda), Justin Kyle Sharpe, Laura Jeanne Sharpe, and Kasey Lee Sharpe. Calvin has a younger brother, Richard Thomas Sharpe (Betty), who resides in Hampstead, Maryland and one niece, Melissa Sharpe Donnelly (Tim).
Calvin had a second son, Thomas William Sharpe, who is now with the Lord.
Calvin grew up in the Scotts and Ebenezer communities and is well known for his ability to make any car purr like a kitten. People came from all over Iredell County to ask his opinion on automotive issues. He also worked at Fiber Industries for over 20 years as a mechanic. After retirement, he opened his own automotive business where he and his family repaired cars for 15 years.
He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where he has many great friends who have been there for him. The family thanks his Sunday School class for all that they have done for him; God Bless each of you.
Services celebrating Calvin’s life will be held Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. T. Scott Eanes and the Rev. Brian Eades officiating. The Men’s Bible Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, 28625; or the American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Road, Suite 200, Charlotte, 28210.
At other times, the family will meet at the home at 842 Midway Drive. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Condolences can be sent to www.legacy.com.

Calvin used to come to the water aerobics class I taught. I knew he battled disease the last few years. I was very fond of him. He looked just like my father also! My condolences to his friends and family

Dear Barbara and family: I am so sorry to read of Calvin's death. I did not know that he was sick. Last night as I was driving home I saw a car at your driveway and wondered why you would be out at 8:30 PM. I just read this in the paper. May the Lord be with you and give you strength to endure this grief. If I can help you, please call. Love, Linda Bollinger
