I was saddened to hear of the loss of Brian. I worked with him in the late 70's to mid 80's when he was a market maker at Brandt. We had many wonderful conversations and good times, he was a very generous, caring and genuine person. I wasn't a close personal friend of his but a work friend. I always enjoyed his company and though I lost touch with him after leaving the CBOE, he was one of the few I wished that I had kept in contact with. I recently read of his passing in the Ignatius alumni publication. I wish to express my condolences on your loss.

Sincerely,

Curt Zuckert

Dear Novak family,

Brian was a regular patron of the CME Library, which I manage. Our converstaions about Evanston, ETHS, and our children were always a highlight of my day, and I'll miss his presence and unique personality. My condolences on your irreplacable loss.

Brian was a second father, mentor, and friend to me. I knew him for many years. He was extremely passionate and knowledgeable about many things in life. One thing is true though... he loved his three daughters more than anything else in life. I will miss you, my friend.

My deepest sympathy to Brian's family. I worked at the CBOE for

eleven years. He was one of my favorite members. We had many conversations about his family.

I hope you know you were very important to him.

We also had many conversations about his back problems. I was always glad to here his voice when he walked into the Membership Department. I knew a good conversation would be had.

Members like him made it hard to leave the exchange when I did finally leave.

He will be truly missed.

I remember Brian as a strong, but gentle man, kind and caring. About nine years ago, he and two of his work collegues (Orlando and Dino) came to the aid of me and my family, when we were in need of help and compassion. At that time we had lost a loved one, (Thomas Krupa), Brian and his collegues helped us a great deal. Brian will be remembered as the man who helped us without being asked. Brian will be missed; he is now in heaven with Tom, talking about sports. Our deepest sympathies are with the Novak family.

Rita, Annie, Barry, and Cat,

Sarah and I are very sorry for your loss. After spending most of yesterday on the phone with the old gang, we realized that we too suffered a great loss. It doesn't seem like 25 years ago that we ran mile after mile around the East Bank track but we all have the same memories of Brian as the tall guy with the big voice. He was sarcastic, funny, entertainingly confrontational, witty, a slower runner than some of us but better at basketball than all of us. My last and most lasting memory was of the big grouch picking up my daughter Katy at a cross country meet and fawning over her like a grandmother. I'll miss him too.

To the Novak Family, Please accept my deepest symphaty. I have fond memories of seeing your family at cross country meets celebrating Barrie's and Ann's great running. I had the pleasure to coach them for a year at ETHS. Please let me know if I can help in any way at the high school. Once again my prayers and thoughts are with your family. Sincerely, Dave Feeley, ETHS Teacher
