Betty B. Bowers Betty Byerly Bowers, 80, of Wytheville, formerly of Charlotte, N.C., died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at Wake-Forest Baptist Health Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. A service in celebration of her life was held Monday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. William T. Jeffries officiating. Private interment was at Sharon Memorial Park. She was born June 28, 1931, in Asheville, N.C., daughter of the late Claude Francis and Minnie Foster Byerly. She was an active member of Providence United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas F. Bowers, in 1994. qIn loving memory of their mother and grandmother who brought immeasurable joy to so many lives and so many sweet memories to the family she loved so dearly, we celebrate the life she lived and the life she is now living. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank D. and Elizabeth Bowers of Cornelius, N.C., and John C. and Kim Bowers of High Point, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and George Wittwer of Wytheville; grandchildren, Benjamin Bowers, Nathan Bowers, Andy Bowers, Kaylin Bowers, Joshua Bowers, Seth Bowers, Christopher Wittwer, Matthew Wittwer, and Andrew Wittwer; and a sister, Shirley B. Aviritt of Sarasota, Fla. Her grandchildren served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Christian Home Sunday School Class of which she was a member.
