When I saw the name, I was shocked. Bert was always a strong figure at Cherry-Burrel where I met him about 1950. He was always kind, helpful and fun to be with. My heart goes out to the family. Joan Dodge Holtorf

We were so sorry to read about the loss of your Father/Grandfather.

Uncle Bert, A beautiful light was extinguished when you left us for your heavenly reward with God. Pure joy, love and kindness simply eminated from you all of the time. To say that we will miss you is far too little. Your absense from this world leaves a hole that can now only be filled with the beautiful, funny and always loving memories of the exceptional man that you were. We extend our deepest sympathies to Aunt Helen, Tom, Dick, Margaret and all of your wonderful family, who of course are the ones who suffer your loss the most. Thankfully for the rest of us, each of them carries on as a shining example of the goodness and wonderfulness that was you. We will miss you so very much. May God hold you in His loving hands for all eternity.

Uncle Bert, you were the kindest and funniest man I've ever met. Absolutely, my most favorite uncle. I hope you and Mom are having many cocktails up in heaven and filling her in on all your jokes she's missed. I'll miss you terribly. Our Sunday dinners with Dad were a joy for me. Thank you for always being there for me. I love you
