Bernie had a strong influence on my life both personally and professionally, during my time working for Burwood Products. Strong, gruff, steady, consistent and fair were only a few of his wonderful and admirable qualities. He was truly a "mentor" in many ways and I miss him deeply and very sincerely. I would not be where I am today had it not been for his impact on my life. God Bless you Bernie. I miss you. Jack Fischer

Uncle Bernie
I liked visiting Bernie.
I felt, in his presence, that in spite of the sorrows, being alive is a gift and a privilege.
I was reminded by his attitude, that the most valuable thing that we have is our love for each other.
I was tickled by his enduring sense of humor. He looked for humor, and relished it.
I respected the courage that it took for him to persist in communicating with those around him.
I will always treasure the beautiful letter that Bernie wrote for my Dad’s funeral.
He was both tender and tough.
I’m glad that I knew him.
