Cohen, Bernard Z. "Bernie" beloved husband of Adrienne "Cookie" (nee Solomon), loving father of Stuart (Geri) Cohen and Sandi (Neil) Bauer, proud papa of Allison, David and Andy Cohen, Matthew and Joey Bauer, cherished brother of the late Ruth Brown and Ed Shore, cherished brother-in-law of Adele Wallerstein, adored uncle of many nieces and nephews. Service Monday, 12 Noon at Chicago Jewish Funerals Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Road, (one block north of Lake Cook Road), Buffalo Grove. Interment Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Les Turner ALS Foundation, 8142 N. Lawndale Ave., Skokie, IL, 60076-3311. Bernie had a strong influence on my life both personally and professionally, during my time working for Burwood Products. Strong, gruff, steady, consistent and fair were only a few of his wonderful and admirable qualities. He was truly a "mentor" in many ways and I miss him deeply and very sincerely. I would not be where I am today had it not been for his impact on my life. God Bless you Bernie. I miss you. Jack Fischer

Uncle Bernie
I liked visiting Bernie.
I felt, in his presence, that in spite of the sorrows, being alive is a gift and a privilege.
I was reminded by his attitude, that the most valuable thing that we have is our love for each other.
I was tickled by his enduring sense of humor. He looked for humor, and relished it.
I respected the courage that it took for him to persist in communicating with those around him.
I will always treasure the beautiful letter that Bernie wrote for my Dad’s funeral.
He was both tender and tough.
I’m glad that I knew him.
