Dear Govedarica/Milosh Families:

Please accept our deepest sympathies on the passing of your Dad and Deda, +Bato. We grew up hearing stories of his talents and accomplishments on the basketball court and as a great source of pride to his Serbian people, from our family who knew him back in the day. We knew him as a friendly, kind man who enjoyed being with his family at the Serbian Golf tournaments. May all of your wonderful memories of him bring you comfort.

Sincerely,

You may remember me as 'Curley Savatovich from Milwaukee. I played against Bato many times in the Serb Tournaments. We became friends. Dorothy, I was on the train when the 'mock wedding between you and Bato took place. I sold Ted a home in Bloomingdale, the project fell through. That smile of Bato's I will always remember. A great player but above all a 'first class man' that I will always remember him for. Serbian pride has been challenged in recent years but a man like Bato makes me feel proud to be a Serb. He'll be with some of his fellow players and his coach, Ray. My best to the family.

The world just lost another nice guy. I had the pleasure of playing in Chicago when Bato played and I was with the Syracyse Nationals when Bato worked out with us. My family and I express our sympathy and heartfelt condolances to the family.

Dear Mrs. Govedarica, To you and your children my family and I are so sorry for your loss.

It is so coincidental that Coach Ray Meyer just died so I guess Bato needed a coach up there in heaven.

When Amundsen played against Lane Tech, my brother Wally played against Bato. Bato was such a good ball handler and stand up guy. May you be comforted by happy memories and good friends. Sincerely,

Karen White

Bato was a neighbor of ours in Northbrook and I enjoyed many a round of golf with him. I also attended DePaul when Bato played there. A fantastic ballplayer. I'll never forget the squeek of his shoes when he stopped on the court to hit his set shot. He'll be missed.

I will always remember the warm smile and cheerful greeting Bato had for everyone. When he asked how you were, you knew he really meant it because of that contagious smile and the slap on the back that you got. He will be missed by many. Tournments it will never be the same without his fun loving and genuine feelings for everyone there.

When a person reaches the end of their days they are measured not by the material wealth they left behind, but rather by the people they have touched and loved. Bato has left us as a very wealthy man. Because of how he treated people, we know that God is holding Bato in the palm of his hand. On behalf of my brother Aco and sisters Lillian and Vera I would like to say that we will miss Bato and all that he brought to our lives.

To Bato's family and friends,

I was a young man delivering his business mail (time to time) when Bato was on Belmont Ave. He became my insurance agent when I became 21 years old, and continued until I moved to Arizona 30 or so years later. He was a very friendly guy with many accomplishments. Our prayers are with his family and loved ones.
