To all the hundreds of loving friends of my mother:
Although my brothers and I are still in shock and experiencing tremendous difficulty wrapping our brains around this impossible tragedy, I feel that I need to reach out to all of you and let you all know this:
We feel blessed by the last couple of days with the overwhelming love, compassion and kindness from the very large world of my mother. The stories like, "I met your mother two weeks ago and she was my new best friend." has given us comfort in what we already knew... My mother had the most amazing life and touched so many with her kindness, compassion and grace. I am grateful for what a full and interesting life she shared with me. I am grateful and blessed with being able to say my mother was my best friend. I am grateful for the hugs you have all given me in the last few days. They kept my on my feet and kept me from falling apart. My mother would have loved that. In fact, I'm sure she did because she has been all around us. She loved you all.
With sincerest gratitude,
Debbie

Len and I have known Barbara for over 51 years, when we first saw her in the middle of a circle of people at a party, entertaining. She was charismatic, dynamic, stunning and absolutely fabulous! We connected with each other then and have always had a special relationship, albeit long distance. But whenever I visited Chicago, we always met and it was just the same as always - a close friendship.
We are heartbroken to hear of Barbara's death - her vibrant spirit will always be with Len and me. She was a true friend and we will remember her with joy. The stunning picture she painted and gave us has always hung in a place of honor in our home.
Our sympathies to Bud and her children and grandchildren. She loved them deeply. She was am indomitable spirit who will live on in our hearts.

I have known Barbara since we were five years old and lived next door to one anotherin Austin. I knew her parents and remember the early death of her father when Barbara was in college. Her mom,Lillian lived a long, fruitful life. As a youngster Barbara was so skinny that her mom was constantly giving her chocolate milk to fatten her up.We played jump rope and hop scotch, went to Emmet grammer school directly the street, and tried to avoid the the patrol boys on the corner by crossing in the middle of the street. We remained friends forever. June Rosner
