When Barbara was in the Novitiate of the Sisters of Providence in the middle 60's I first met her. Although our paths crossed only occasionally she always was a bright spot in my memories. How happy I was when my only daughter who attended Guerin was one of the lucky ones to be in her class. Barbara will always be for me what it means to be a Christian.

I had (Sr.)Barb as my World Lit. teacher in "79 at MTG.What a progressive educator she was!!!SHOGUN was the big EPIC at the time and boy,did we study and watch it.Years after graduation she met my kids at the various alumni Easter Bunny Bonanzas, and she so enjoyed seeing and reaping the rewards of her love of life. I know Jan as well, and we all feel the loss deeply. May her legacy live through the support of MTG and the ever so strong alumni. My sincere gratitude for having been her student,

I first met Barb Welch through my friend, Sue Steiner, who occupied a room across the hall from Ms. Welch at Mother Guerin High School. One summer day I went to Guerin with my friend to help decorate her room for the new school year. When I arrived home that day I told my daughter (then a senior at Guerin)about the lovely, warm teacher I had met at Guerin, across the hall from Mrs. Steiner. My daughter knew right away that I was talking about Ms. Welch, and she agreed that Ms. Welch was a very special person. I'm grateful to have known her, however briefly. She was truly the kind of teacher who touched lives forever. She will never be forgotten.

When I was a little girl I prayed for a twin sister. In my little head I thought such a thing was possible. God could do anything! When I was sixteen my mother died and my father decided to marry Mae Welch. I got a part of my wish. I got a sister and while she wasn't a twin, she was close enough to my age to meet all the requirements of my wish. And what a lovely sister to have! I will miss her very much.

Ms. Welch was a special person, who in someway or another touched the lives of those who were around her. I never had her as an actual teacher, but I did work with her on putting the School Masses together. She was a sweet lady, the kind that you can't help but love. Her gentleness and kind spirit is something the student and staff at Mother Gurien High School will never forget. So, thank you Ms. Welch for all the smiles and lessons you have taught so many of us. Heaven is a lucky place to have you.

As a very young child I remember it was Barbara who was finally able to teach me the sign of the cross. It was kinda tricky for a 5 year old lefty!

In 1959 I came back from France to find my father Hugh Reynolds had married Mae Welch, and I had a step sister, Barbara Welch. From the beginning we got along well, in spite of the age gap and not growing up together, and I have many wonderful memories of Barbara as well as Mae, her mother and my stepmother. Later my father and Mae cross adopted Barbara, Hugh, Jane and me, and Barb became my adoptive sister.
Over the years, living in different places we have not had many chances to see one another, but Barb was and is a very dear person to me. Some of her courage in facing difficulties in her life inspired me to face problems and difficult decisions in mine better. I feel I have not lost a sister but gained an additional friend in heaven, and as our family grows there, along with her other relatives, there will be a permanent and lasting "wake",not a memorial but a superb celebration of life, love, joy and with God.

When Barbara was in first grade at St. Joan of Arc, Rock was her friend and visited her frequently during her recovery from early operations. Barbara and I became friends at St. Agnes Academy. We have remained close over the many years in-between and she is an important part of our family. We were blessed by her friendship and shall cherish her gifts of love and support all the days of our lives! We feel strongly that we have seen the goodness of the Lord through Barbara and pray we can carry on her legacy!
We love you, Barb!

Barb is a friend whom Ann has known since High School. For more than forty years she has been a part of the Ginther Family. We have all been influenced for the better by her and can take consulation in the knowledge that her soul is now with God. We will miss Barb and will pray for her and know that she will pray for us.

I've known Ms. Welch since I was in second grade. My older sister had her for freshman year, and then in senior year. When I knew I had Ms. Welch for World Lit. I was so excited. She was an awesome teacher, never did I enjoy an English class as much as I did with her. I'm glad we, her last group of seniors, put together all of our senior portraits for her to remember us by. She was a beautiful person and will be missed.

What can i say about my little Miss Welch..... If it wasn't for her I would not have graduated high school. From the first day of high school Miss Welch has always been here for me. She was my first english teacher at Guerin, and my favorite at that. Whenever I had a problem I went to Miss Welch and she always came up with the perfect plan to fix everything.... I just remember the first conference that she had with my mom. I was so excitied for Miss Welch to meet my mom and the first thing she said to us was... " Your daughter is a doll to have in class she's just.....LAZY AS A STICK!!." I was sooo shocked that she said that about me... Man, talk about a slap in the face....I would even leave study hall to sit in her english class, so that I could still see her. All I know is that my little Miss Welch will always be in my heart. She meant the world to me and always will. If it wasn't for her I would of never gradutated.. Thats the truth.. I love you Miss Welch and miss you so much... Don't forget I'll see you at the Woods....

Barb was a special life long soul friend. We drove together daily to St. Agnes Academy, shared our love of God and others in Sodality. We were roommates with Sheila and Carol at the Woods. We supported one another through the years in our ministries. Being with Barb was always a gift of joyful presence and loving care. Her spirit lives on.

Barbara Welch was my World Lit and English Lit teacher, who used a great combination of a serious teaching manner well infused with wit. She was friendly and caring, and always had time for her students. I will always remember her fondly. My sincere condolences to her many friends and family on your loss of this fine woman.

Barb was truly a "first" cousin in many ways!
Uncle Jim,Aunt Mae, and Barb came every Sunday to our house to be with Grandma Welch Aunt Mary and we 6 Sexton cousins.
After Jim and Mae were gone,Barb could always consider my home as her Indianapolis home.We celebrated every Christmas together(with Frances)and the Sexton cousins.
You are much loved,Barb!
