Barbara Lukas was not only a relative but also my friend. And of the fond memories I have one in particular I will always cherish. When my father passed away she was one of the very first that I had contacted. As her dear father (my uncle) had done countless times with other families she provided me with what I felt was "grief counseling". I cannot express appropriately what comfort that it had as well as meant for me.

My cousin Barbara Lynn was a great inspiration to me when I was young. She played the organ very well and became a Funeral director! Her mom and dad were two very loved people, Auntie Helen (Polka Queen) and Uncle Gus.My Love and sympathy goes to Connie and Phil.

SHE WAS MY MOTHER, A GREAT MOTHER THAT DID NOT DESERVE SUCH A PAINFUL CRUEL DEATH. SHE DIED TOO YOUNG AND NEVER RETIRED. MOTHER OF TWO, A SON PHILIP JOSEPH JOHNSTON III, AND A DAUGHTER CONNIE LYNNE JOHNSTON BOTH FORMALY FROM CALUMET PARK. MY GRANDFATHER GUS J. LUKAS OWNED LUKAS FUNERAL WHERE MY MOTHER BARBARA LUKAS-JOHNSTON WAS THE FUNERAL DIRECTOR. GRADUATED WORSHAM COLLEGE OF MORTUARY SCIENCE IN 1963. I LOVED MY MOTHER AS MUCH AS SHE LOVED ME, AND I HAVE LOST MY TWO BEST FRIENDS AND WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. MY TWO BEST FRIENDS WERE HELEN K. LUKAS (my grandma), AND HER DAUGHTER BARBARA LUKAS-JOHNSTON (my mother).

My memories of Barb start in the 4th grade at Seven Holy Founders School in Calument Park and babysitting Connie/Philip in Crestwood where we all lived back at the time.
