It has been nearly 2 and 1/2 years since Ashley passed. I have a picture of her dressed as Little Bo Peep on my desk at work. I look at that picture and recall the wonderful little girl with whom I did not get to spend nearly enough time. Ashley lives on in the hearts and minds of her family and friends. While she is missed, her spirit is felt. Whenever I am a little overwhelmed at work I look the picture of Ashley, Al, Andy, Zach Sandi and I all in our Halloween costumes and remember that all the hard work will result in good times. I will remember the good times and not the work. Thank you Ashley.

Well its almost 3 months now and I feel the healing has already started for us. We don't hear much from our families but we do talk a lot to our friends who have help us get through this and even the staff and teachers at the school. The kids are doing better in their school work. We have a set time of going to the cemetry every Sunday Morning before Sunday School. and sometimes more depending on the day. Mommy goes there alot to visit and keep her grave decorated. It is now decorated for easter. She would love it!!

Everyone take care,

Dear Family,

As a teenager who has been fighting a losing battle with Acute Lympocytic Leukemia I cannot feel sorry for Ashley. I will rejoice with her for she is in a far better place now then she could have ever been here on this Earth. No more Doctors, no more Hospitals, no more meds, no more treatments, no more not knowing what the day or minute may bring. She is free. I will celebrate her Life, not her Death. Heven has a new Angel and her name is Ashley Elizabeth Carro.

How can I explain what I feel,

This pain I feel is very real,

A mother's loss of a child,

Is nothing very mild,

A part of myself is what is gone,

And it feels like, oh so long,

No one can bring her back to me,

No one can set my heart free,

Go on living is what they say,

Do this I just may,

But two times out of the year,

I can't help shed a tear,

The day you were born my dear,

And this day you died, I fear,

For life goes on and death is inevitable,

This cycle is so incredible,

But my child is out there somewhere,

She lives in my heart, memories, tears... nowhere.

That is the best way that I can explain how I feel for your loss. You have my deepest regrets and I hope the best for all of Ashley's family.

Carro Family,

A "Rose" once grew, for all to see,

Sheltered beside a garden wall,

and as the days grew swiftly by,

the "Rose" grew straight and tall.

One day a beam of light shown through,

a crevice that had opened wide.

The "Rose" bent gently towards the warmth,

and passed beyond to the other side.

Now you, who deeply feel this loss,

be comforted, the "Rose" it blooms

there!!

It's beauty even greater now, nurtured with God's own loving care!!

This is a poem I read when presiding over an Eastern Star Funeral. I heard of Ashley and her family through an Eastern Star mail group and felt I needed to share it with the family and to say that my blessings are with all!

"Until we meet again!"

Star and Fraternal love,

* When God calls little children to dwell with him above, we mortals always question the wisdom of his love. For no heartache compares with the death of one small child who does to much to make this world seem wonderful and mild. Perhaps God tires always calling the aged to His fold, and so He picks a rosebud before it can grow old. God knows how much we need them so He takes but few - to make the land of Heaven more beautiful to view. Believing this - is difficult, still somehow we must try. The saddest word that mankind knows will always be "goodbye". And so when little ones depart - we who are left behind must realize how much God loved little children - For angels are hard to find.*

I followed Ashley ever since Kody fell in love with her and cried when Kim said Ashley was growing her pink angel wings. My daughter's name is Ashley too. I had a luminary for Kody at our Relay for Life last year, this year I will have two, one for Kody and one for Ashley. My plan all year was to light one for Ashley, I wish with all my heart that it was not a memorial luminary that I will light. Your daughter touched many lives, even if we never met her, she is loved.
