Ardith Bartolain Obituary

Bartolain, Ardith Ann "Ardie" (nee Szyplebaum) Age 66, of Port Charlotte, FL passed July 18th, 2017. She had been courageously battling pancreatic cancer, succumbing peacefully at home in Port Charlotte, FL with her sons by her side. She was born on Wednesday, April 11th, 1951, the only child of Walter J. and Ann R. Szyplebaum, who preceded her in death. As an RN, Ardie worked in multiple hospitals in both Illinois and Florida, eventually settling her career as an independent consultant with her MSCC and CCM certifications helping patients and care-providers navigate the healthcare insurance sector. Ardie loved spending time with her family and friends, riding her motorcycle, enjoying the outdoors, and was passionate about healthcare issues and companion animals. She will be remembered for her giving heart, intelligence, sharp wit, free-spirit, strong sense of independence, contagious smile, and her positively unwavering work-ethic. Ardie is survived by her sons, Michael (Christy) Bartolain of Round Lake Beach, IL, Colin (Deirdre) Bartolain of North Port, FL, and Aaron (Tara) Bartolain of Woodbine, MD; and eight grandchildren. Her sons and families will be celebrating her life at her home at 2514 Haven St., Port Charlotte, Florida 33948 Saturday the 12th through Sunday the 13th until 3:00 p.m., and invite all who wish to drop-by either day for reflection and hugs. Ardie and I met in early 90s while working as RNs for same company in similar roles & both of us moving to Florida about the same time. I was blessed to have been assigned to share rooms with her when attending corporate functions and conferences. We shared many interests and many aspects of our lives were similar. I cherish the time I spent with Ardie. Beginning in the late 90s my life changed drastically due to issues related to my service to the Air Force mobile medical squadron. Time with her became more off than on due to the multiple surgeries, my trials with cancer, and medical issues related to some type of exposure while serving in the Air Force and traveling back and forth to the Midwest for about three years to care for my parents preceding their deaths. Ardie was so good about staying in touch even when I wasnt able to; she blessed me with so much encouragement and many things-some not tangible objects. Before we both began to experience a lot in our personal lives we talked about travel and doing more when we retired. Once I was finally able to be back on track it seemed she began to experience more issues. Ardie taught me so much, even how to tile! She was always so gracious, kind, fun, and the hostess with the mostest. My heart is so saddened by the loss of a very dear friend. Her sons are such a reflection of who Ardie was and how much she loved her boys and their families. I feel so honored to have been a part of her life through many ups and downs and trials we both had, some shared. I was so happy to meet some of her friends down south at her celebration of life such a life so worthy of celebrating. So many people have been touched in so many ways by Ardie and we all miss her. Thank you Ardie, for the years of your friendship, love and so many things that would fill many pages.

Ardie and I were friends for over 50 years! She was like a sister to me, enjoying good times and sad times. She was always there when you needed someone to talk to or be there. She was so fun, full of life, I have so many wonderful memories of our times together through school, family times, visits. So glad I got to spend time with her at the end and tell her how I loved her❤. If you need anything Michael, Colin, and Aaron, please call me. Sending love to all of you.. I piece of my heart is missing.

My friendship with Ardie began in the early 90's working as RNs together. We stayed in touch through the years & about 8 years ago we found ourselves able to spend a great deal of time together. I will be forever grateful for those years . Ardie was beautiful, intelligent, funny, compassionate, strong willed , tender hearted , a good friend , a proud mother & grandmother. I was blessed to know her . I will profoundly miss her for the rest of my life . She was taken far too soon. I extend my condolences to Colin , Deirdre & family, Aaron , Tara & family , Michael & Christy and to Ardie's extended family and friends .

I always felt that my sister and I were the daughters Ardie never had. Growing up with her a part of my life was a honor. I always will remember her kindness and beauty. She had the greatest laugh! I'm sending my love and hugs to Michael, Colin, and Aaron. In these hard times always remember the happiness and love you shared. We all now have a beautiful guardian angel above.

I miss you sorely. Anyone who knew you does. Thank you for being the example of persistence (if not tenaciousness) that has made me the man and husband I am. I hope I made you proud. Godspeed, mom.

The best and kindest Mother-In-Law a woman could ask for. Ardie was so welcoming to me and not only like a second Mom to me, but a wonderful friend too. She was fun, funny, generous and always ready to talk and listen. I will miss her with all my heart. I Love you Florida Mom.
