Ma,
It´s 2023 and you could never imagine how much of you is in me. Yep I´ve officially turned into a mini you so many of your traits and mannerisms I´ve noticed now that I turned into the 70´s. 2009 seems so far back but yet I remember those days like they have just past. Say hi to Lil Nannie, Ray, Aunt Betty (she smoked up til her lasts days at 92) and all your friends and family. We all have great stories to share almost every week and I wonder if your ears are burning . I love you ma now and forever. Wanna see you but not now too soon for me,

My Grandmother...the person I received my middle name from. She was one of my best friends. I knew I could come to her for anything, whether it was advice on boys, school or learning how to do the dishes. She tried so hard to do right by me and i'd like to think she succeeded. Gram i'm going to continue to fight to stay independent. I hope you'll watch over me as I try to find my place in the world. Thank you Gram, for everything.

Ma,
Just finished putting together the remaining items for your memorial service. I know you didn't want to have anything, but you would be so proud of what I have put together for you. It took a while to prepare my daughter's prayer and eulogy but after great thought and a lot of torn paper, I know you would be happy with how I will remember you. After 61 years with you, there are so many memories. We shared the very bad and the very good. Just like when the 5 of us ran down that alley on 72nd Street knowing we would not have to suffer any longer, I know your last journey lead you to not having to suffer any longer again. No one will ever know how the two of us survived but I know I will keep at it, just like you taught me.
With all my heart, soul and missing you terribly,
Marita Guadalupe Rodriguez

My memories are of a women with much fire and zest for life. She was a force to be reckoned with and an awesome source of wisdom! She didn't sugar coat things, if you came to her for advice she would give it to you, but all in love. I feel blessed that my daughter and her children are cut from the same cloth, I know they will be full of strength and perserverence to overcome any obtacles that life has in store. I know she is joyous and at peace as she is at rest now with her heavenly father. May the days ahead be bright do to the new star shining high, watching over her precious family!
