IT WAS GREAT TO SEE THESE LETTERS ONLINE ABOUT MY DAD. HE WAS A GREAT DAD. A FUNNY DAD. A HARD WORKING DAD. A LOVING DAD. I TRULY MISS HIM AND ALWAYS WILL. IT IS STRANGE GOING INTO MY PARENT'S HOUSE AND SEEING MY DAD'S EMPTY CHAIRS. HE HAD MANY FAVORITE SPOTS. HIS CHAIRS WILL NEVER, EVER BE FILLED BY ANY OTHER. I THANK ALL FOR THEIR LOVE SUPPORT AND PRAYERS EXTENDED TO MY FAMILY. MAY GOD BLESS. XOXO LAURA JEAN SPALLA.

Dear: Spalla Family. We are saddened by the loss of your loved one (,Husband,Brother,Father,Grandfathe r ,in-law). Tony, i will forever remember your dads great sense of humor and opinion, being as his opinion on things so often aligned with mine, it was easy from day one to connect with him.It was always great to run into him at any given time in the hood,a great smile,a uproarious laugh, maybe even a questionable stare or two, although that was almost always followed by some colorful commentary, but always a strong hand shake or a pat on the back,he was not short on physically expounding on a number of subjects, worldwide or local,he was old school, and i loved being around him when class was in session. I enjoyed his seasoned perspectives, you knew instantly upon meeting him he was no wallflower, but at the same time when something was worth saying it got said, and he didn,t talk just to here himself ,that's a dying trait in so many today, "to wear who you are on your sleeve" but he did in spades, he was a mans man, because he wasn,t full of himself, and was bluntly honest, he may have had a difficult time as a politican. but he was a good and loyal worker im sure, your father, like you stated he didn't have a phony bone in his body, and that is really an awesome quality,in this age of political correctness, your dad was the real deal,im a richer man for having known him ,being a dad i now can appeciate his kind even more,a tough love kinda guy, he will be missed, thanks for the memories Tony SR and God Bless the Spalla family, Dale Bennett and family

Dear Barb,

I was so sorry to learn of the passing of your husband. Our brief health updates on our husband's conditions in the hallways of Marist makes me feel that I knew Tony. I know he was surrounded by LOVE of FAMILY and fought the good fight that only a loving husband, father and grandfather can. Rest assured that he and you will be remembered in my prayers. May his soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, rest in PEACE. Hold on to the memories.

Dear Tony,

I was so sorry to hear about your father. My sister Jeannie just told me. I've heard so many nice things about him. I remember seeing him sometimes in the early morning, on our way to the Merc when we all used to carpool. I'll keep you, your family and especially your father in my thoughts and prayers.

We loved Tony. We couldn't have asked for a better neighbor. He welcomed us as if we were life-long friends. A funny story was never far from reach, nor was the ever present offer: "You want a beer?" We will never forget when he helped out as Stacey's baby-sitter. We will cherish his memory.
