Anthony Monahan Obituary

Monahan, Anthony R. Age 64, passed away January 8, 2003 in Portland, Oregon. Tony was born on October 10, 1938. He attended O'Dea High School and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in journalism. Tony's journalism talent led him to become Assistant Bureau Chief for UPI, Staff writer and Associate Editor for Chicago Tribune Sunday Magazine, Staff writer and Managing Editor for Midwest Magazine of the Chicago Sun-Times, Founding Editor of Vital Magazine, Managing Editor of Cuisine Magazine, Executice Editor of ABA Press, including Barrister, Human Rights and Student Lawyer Magazines. Tony became a Master Gardner in Seattle in 1994. The Gardens he created from Seattle to Minnesota to Portland will be a living memorial for all to enjoy. Tony was the beloved husband of Karen (nee Daniel) for 17 years, dear father of Michael (Jackie), Patrick and Maureen (Bassam) Danial, proud grandfather of Mia Monahan and John Danial. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2003 at Mount Emblem Cemetery, Grand Avenue & County Line Road, Elmhurst at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Lynwood Terrace, 2317 East 207 Street, Linwood, Illinois, 60411, Patrick Monahan's residence and school.
