Annette Glenn Obituary

Glenn (nee Hill), Annette Theresa

Annette Theresa Glenn (nee Hill), was born on August 28, 1948 in Chicago, IL, to the late Annie Ruth and Armstrong Hill, she is preceded in death by her Sister Cheryln "Porky" Calvin. She attended John Farren Elementary, Dusable High School & later went on to attend & complete Cortez Peter's Business School. Her childhood home was 5119 S. Wabash which was her Family Home where she was raised with all of her Aunts, Uncles & Cousins and had a Special Fondness of a Celebrity Cousin Denzel Washington whom she grew up with. At an early age she confessed her Love for Christ attending Cathedral Missionary Baptist Church: Pastor Otis Anderson. Netty became a Nursery School Teacher at Pilgrim Baptist Church. She later met and married the Love of her Life Herschel Glenn Sr. on January 12, 1981...together they celebrated over 40 years of marriage. Annette acquired 4 bonus children from her husband, Marjorie Bryant, Dr. Sharon Lee, Herschela Conyers & Herschel Glenn Jr with a Very Special Grandson Peter Glenn that she adored.

Netty stepped in to raise & take care of her Only Niece: Mitanette Cooper whom she is named after. Netty became just like a second Aunt-Mom to her Niece and Mitt made sure Netty had thee BEST of Everything. Mitt enjoyed talking with her Aunt, taking Her Aunt & Uncle Bookey out to lavish Restaurants, Keeping her well dressed, traveling to different places and she even made sure her Aunt-Mom was able to go back to where she once worked at the Chicago Suntimes now known as the Trump Tower's enjoying Exclusive Rooftop Experiences. She Vicariously lived through her Niece & her Action Filled life but Mitt made sure she always shared her Fun Adventures with her Aunt through pictures & videos.

Netty joined the Chicago Sun-Times Family in May of 1969 starting In the Voluntary Department. Her love for pets took her to the Call Center where she became a Sales Rep. She stayed in the Call Center but missed everyone in Voluntary especially Her Play Mom Leona Sims and went back as a Copy Checker. Her Love & Desire is where she made so many friends & sisters that it made her create years of bonding with her close friends Loretta, Bestfriend Bunny, Jackie, Marge, Lily, Yolanda Lacy, Bernard, Ruthie Mae Porterfield, Lue Piller, Crockett, Barb Lovick, Yolanda Loggins, Michelle Martin, Ms. Margaret & Nyoka "Yogi" with so many more extended coworkers where she started her growth to becoming a Supervisor. She stayed as Supervisor in the Voluntary (Call Center) Department until a need for change came & her joy & love to talk to people took her over to the reception desk. Netty retired from the Chicago Sun-times after 40 years of service. Netty was a Pleasant Ray of Sunshine for the Entire Sun-Times Family.

Netty had some health struggles for the past few years that limited her being who Netty always was, A very Devoted Wife, Loving Mom-Aunt & Supportive Friend but that never stopped her caring & giving Heart even during some of her trying times.

There were so many times that she persevered when the odds were against her and when the doctors counted her out.

Netty Fought the Good Fight, Finish the race, She Kept the Faith

Netty was a very Loyal & Devoted wife to husband Bookey to the point of still trying to take care of him even when she couldn't take care of herself. The Love she carried for him was Immeasurable & Undeniable. She would always say to her Bookey Bear..."Why don't you tell me you want me & his response would always be...Because Baby I need you not only want you". Their Love Story is something that many carry so many Wonderful Memories of.

During Nettys Health issues she acquired Nyoka "Yogi" first as her Co-worker, Friend then Caregiver: turned Bonus Daughter whom she Loved & Adored Very Much. Yogi made sure she kept her Promise to Netty & Netty's Family & was there from Beginning to End with so much Love in her Heart. Netty also acquired 2 bonus Grandkids during this process Khari & Kennedi (Keni who she was Absolutely in Love with) and they helped to make her days so much more Pleasant.

Annette closed her eyes on Saturday April 2, 2022 with her Niece by her side & with Yogi on the phone...She always said she didn't want to be left alone & she wasn't. The Love We have for our Dear Netty will never compare to the Love she gave to everyone around her.

Netty leaves to cherish her memories her Devoted Husband, Herschel "Bookey Bear" Glenn, Adored Niece/Daughter: Mitanette "Mitt" Cooper, Nephew: Fernando Cooper, Brother-in-love: Albert Calvin, Dear Special Cousins, Matt, Wesley, Karen, Charlie & Bobby, Cherished Bestfriends Bunny & Mr. Poo, Fond Close Friends: Jackie & Loretta, Loved Play Mom Leona, Loving Bonus Daughter & Caregiver: Yogi, Dear Bonus Grandkids: Kennedi (Keni) & Khari and extended family The Bays Family: Parky, MamaCat & Her Sun-Times
