I had the great pleasure of working with Annette Dewett for a number of years at the Oakton Community College library.
She was a lovely, warm and loving human being with a wonderful sense of humor. Annette was a great conversationalist and I have fond memories of our many talks together. She was always upbeat and cheerful (even when she wasn't feeling well), and was always more concerned about others than she was about herself.
I have many tangible memories of Annette in the pieces of jewelry she gave me over the years. She knew I loved earrings and hardly a birthday (she always remembered my birthday!) or a Christmas went by without her giving me a pair. Many of the pieces she gave me have become favorites of mine.
My deepest sympathies to her family, whom I know she loved dearly, and her many cherished friends.

I met Annette when she worked as a student employee in the Oakton Library. What a wonderful human being who had great stories to tell. I truly appreciated her wisdom and humor. She will be greatly missed.

As Professor of Library Services at Oakton Community College, I surpervised and worked with Annette for many years. She contributed so much in being willing to do what was needed in the Library cataloging area and thus served the Library as a whole. Beyond that she was a wonderful human being. When there were problems or upsets, she was there, and her compassion and thoughtful perspective could always be counted upon. Of course, we shared times of joy, too. She educated those she worked with, two younger generations, by sharing her life experiences including living in different locations, her travels, and her nursing.
Condolences to all her family and friends on their loss.

I will miss my dear friend of 24 years. Annette was the first senior citizen hired as a student emloyee in 1985. She was a terrific worker and a wonderful friend. We travel much of the world together both international and domestic. We had been planning our Greece trip together for the past 4 years. When I make with trip alone in the spring, Annette will be my guardian angel who I will miss greatly.I can already hear Annette's laughter as she dances in the Greece plaza's as she has done on many of our trips together. Rest and be at peace with Gale and Tom my dear friend - you are sadly missed.

I was unable to attend Annette's memorial service as I was out of town. Annette and I have been friends since 1985 when I hired her as the first senior student employee to work with me at Oakton College. She and I traveled the world, taking many domestic as well as international trips together. The one trip we had been planning for the past several years was our trip to Greece. Annette will be my guardian angel when I take that trip and will sadly miss my very good friend for more than 24 years.
