Anna Darabaris Obituary

Darabaris, Anna P. formerly of Chicago (Roseland), died Saturday, February 22, 2003, at Christ Advocate Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, following surgery. A Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2003, by retired Navy Chaplain, Reverend Edwin Bochula, at St. James of the Sag Roman Catholic Church, 10600 W. Archer Ave., Lemont, IL. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL. Cremation Rites will be accorded by the Cremation Society of Illinois. She was born the daughter of John and Victoria Swiontek, in Chicago, on June 22, 1916. Her husband, John G. Darabaris, whom she married in 1936, died June 6, 1954. Surviving are three sons and one daughter; Harry and Joan of Bourbonnais, George of Richton Park, John of Denver, CO and Marie and Gerald Schiera of Homer Township; 13 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren; one brother, Ted and Helene Swiontek of Eagle River, WI; one sister, Rosemary Martinotti of Palos Hills, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Stanley, Andrew, Valentine, Walter and John Swiontek; one brother-in-law, Richard Martinotti and one sister, Helen. Anna was affiliated with St. Salomea Church in Chicago, St. Joseph Church on Manteno and Our Lady of the Ridge Church in Chicago Ridge, IL. She will be remembered for the beautiful personalized beaded ornaments she made; crocheting, playing cards, and baking Easter Holiday Lambs, Chicks and Bunnies. She was a Chicago White Sox fan.
