Anne was a lovely and wonderful lady and will not be forgotten.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. It's comforting to know that God cares for all of us and losing a loved one is something we cannot get use to. The Bible gives us hope that one day we can see our dear loved one again. On behalf of all mankind Jesus surrender his soul for many. John 15:13 says “No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul on behalf of his friends.” Truly I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dear loved one and I hope these few words will bring you comfort and hope.

Leo and the Newcomb family, I was sorry to read of Ann's death and remembered her support for Holy Family school and parish. Ann worked on many events to raise needed funds for our school and parish ministry. I will always be grateful for her interest and encouragement for our efforts. My gratitude extends to Leo who also gave so much advice and guidance to the staff at the parish. You all are in my prayers. Gratefully, Chuck McEnery, former Jesuit at Holy Family.

Leo:

I am very sorry to learn of Ann's death. She was a wonderful person. I am sorry, but, I will not be able to come to the wake or funeral as I am in Arizona until Monday.
Sincerely

It was a sad and yet wonderful trip to Chicago this weekend. Mindy and I had the grand opportunity to spend some quality time with Uncle Leo.

I wish we could have been more help to Margot and Dan, who had their hands full with the arrangements to celebrate Aunt Ann's blessed life.

Thinking of y'all at this time.

She was the perfect embodiment of what a lady should be, and an excellent role model for living a happy, holy life. I am truly proud to call her my grandmother.

Ann treated me like one of her own, and she taught me that children -- one's own children -- are loaves of bread, the staff of life. I am profoundly thankful for having known her.

Aunt Ann personified style and grace; my deepest condolences to The Newcombe Family, especially Uncle Leo, for their loss.

We did not have the opportunity to spend a great deal of time with Anne, but her charm and grace left an indelible impression. Our heart-felt condolences to Leo, her children and grandchildren.

Submitted by Jerry Newcombe, son:
Here are the opening lines of James Weldon Johnson's great funeral poem, "Go Down, Death." They apply to Mom perfectly:

Weep not, weep not,
She is not dead;
She's resting in the bosom of Jesus.
Heart broken husband --- weep no more;
Grief stricken son --- weep no more;
Left lonesome daughter --- weep no more;
She's only just gone home.
