Ann Masiulewicz Obituary

Masiulewicz, Ann M. "Babe" (nee Kobal) Peacefully went home to her reward on July 11, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ann is the loving mother of Paula Masiulewicz, John Masiulewicz, Donna Masiulewicz, Laura Masiulewicz and Sarah (James) Marren; the cherished grandmother of Emma Masiulewicz and Thomas Marren; dear sister of Kathleen (Estel) Reed, Joseph (Rosa) Kobal and the late Bernadette (Jack) Leptich, and an aunt and mentor and friend to so many more. Born to Joseph and Pauline Kobal on October 18, 1935, at 11:46 a.m., Ann was a lifelong resident of the Chicago area and a lifelong fan of her beloved Chicago Cubs. A devoted woman of faith, Ann was raised in St. Stephen's Parish in the city's Little Village neighborhood, and raised her children in St. Frances of Rome Parish in Cicero. After graduating from Mundelein College Ann began a teaching career of over half a century, a career which saw her bringing her love for children's education to grade schools, high schools, military academies and special education foundations. Additional service to the children of Chicago was seen through her long involvement with the Girl Scouts, CYO Cheerleading and other youth sports organizations, and as a sitting member of the School Board of the Chicago Archdiocese In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that children's books be brought to the visitation and service for donation to the Cicero Public Library and St. Frances of Rome Grade School, or that monetary donations be made directly to St. Jude. Donate By Phone: 800-805-5856 or at www.stjude.org Visitation Monday, July 15, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home 7750 W. Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL 60130. Our sympathy & prayers to the family on the loss of a remarkable caring and knowledgeable person. It has been a few years since I have seen Ann, but will always remember the times at SFR either with bingo, school or athletic board or as a teacher to our children. May she rest in peace.

Ann M. "Babe" Masiulewicz

One who really made a difference in so many people's lives…

She made our world a better place and those who knew her better for just that “knowing her”!!!

As parents we don't always know if we're doing the best job…well I can tell you –
You're mom is smiling down on you knowing now what your Mom's love created… geez - she loved you all so much… I loved to see her smile and her eye's twinkle when she talked about you…
“ HER FIVE AWESOME CHILDREN” xoxoxo

A love one is a treasure of the heart, and to lose a loved one is like losing a piece of yourself. But the love that your Mom brought you did not leave, for the essence of the soul lingers. It cannot escape your, heart, for it has been there forever. Cling to the memories and let them find their way to heal you. The love and laughter, the joy and togetherness you shared will make you strong. You'll come to realize that your time together, even though for all of us was much to short –it was meant to be and that you were blessed to have such a precious gift of love in your life. Keep your heart beating with loving memories, keep the Ann - “BABE” -isms alive and trust in your faith to guide you through. Know that, though life moves on, the beauty of the love stays behind to surround and embrace you. Your mom has left you that to hold in your heart forever… She will always be with us…
Her light will shine on in each of you...

You'll Never Forget....
You'll never forget your mothers face,
The sound of her voice,
The gentleness of her touch;
They let you know that you were loved.

You'll never forget the stories she told . The traditions she handed down, They let you know who you are.

You'll never forget the lessons she taught, The things she stood for. They are her gift and your legacy.

You'll never forget, and you'll always know that you honor her everyday, in how you live and who you are...

Know they never really leave us... we become them... May you celebrate every bit of your MOM in you !!!

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

" My dearest Anne, I will miss our daily talks and the times that we spent together. Your friendship meant so much to me and to so many other people who lives were made a little better by having known you. You are at rest now, but you will never be forgotten."

I only met Ann once but I know her 3 daughters who are, I'm sure, her life's greatest achievment and the best reflection of her soul. Her spirit and love will live on through her children and grandchilden, of that I have no doubt. My wish is for peace and healing after this heartache for Ann's entire family and all of her friends.
