Mr. Smith was full of wisdom and warmth. Since the day I met him, about 10 years ago with my best friend and his niece Kelli Smith, he made me feel welcome.
Mr. Smith's regal presence prompted you to sit up straight, walk tall and act right when he was in the room.
He will be deeply missed.
My sympathy to the Smith family during their great loss. They are blessed to have had such an honorable man in their lives.

I began as a "rookie" teacher at Thornton Township High School in September of 1970. At the time, Mr. A. O. Smith was the assistant principal, a great administrator who helped me and guided me through those early years. To his family: I know you will miss him greatly, but his memory lives in the lives of the students and teachers he influenced.

John recalls Mr. Smith being very supportive of the class American Civilization & Communication at Thornton Twp. H.S. when it was taught by him and Michael Devine. His death is the loss of a fine educational administrator. Our deepest condolences to Lula and his family.
