Andrew McCandless Obituary
He was born May 16, 1937 in Louisville, KY. He was the Head Pressman at World Color Press and Pressman at Fawcett Dearing and he was a 32 Degree Mason and a member of the Salem Moose Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew C. McCandless II and Catherine Louise (Hoblitel) McCandless; son, Joseph C. McCandless; and a sister, Barbara Jean Frye.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Frances "Bettie" (Wessel) McCandless of Kinmundy, IL. They were married on March 5, 1955. He is also survived by one daughter, Mary Cae Thomas (James) of Indianapolis; son, Leo Daniel McCandless and partner, Tom Lawson of St. Louis, MO; four brothers, William McCandless (Deborah) of Louisville, KY, James McCandless of Salem, George McCandless of Arizona and Lawrence McCandless (Linda) of Louisville; two sisters, Cynthia Stevens (James) of Tennessee and Denise Weiter (Larry) of Louisville; daughter-in-law, Angela McCandless of Collinsville; and grandchildren, Amber, Beth, Jacob and Olivia.
A memorial celebration service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the Salem Moose Lodge, Salem, IL.
Memorials may be sent to Shriners in Louisville and may be left at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home, Salem, IL.
