Andrew "Andy" Gilbert, 68. Born Grand Forks, ND. Passed away suddenly on 11/27/21 at his home. Long-Time Resident of Palatine. US Army Ranger for 4 years. Beloved Husband of Carol. Loving Father of James & Christopher. Preceded by parents, Arthur & Bertha and siblings Alice Anderson, Richard Marmalejo, & Ray Gilbert. Uncle to several nieces & nephews. Senior Superintendent at Lend Lease & other companies in Chicago over a 40-year career. He was a long-suffering Minnesota sports fan. Passionate about bowling, coaching, and his rat terriers. In Lieu of Flowers, please donate to Pet Rescue Charities. Private Family Burial

Hi Carol - Sandy got your Christmas card and let me know about Andy. I am so sorry for your loss...he was a very special guy and good friend for 40+ years. I always enjoyed his crazy sense of humor and his holiday cards with drawings of toilets and other strange things. I am glad you had many years together and I know he loved you very much. My sympathies to you and the boys. Sending you hugs and tears from Minneapolis.

I will miss Andy´s incredible wit, his clever play on words, his great sense of humor and his endless knowledge on just about anything and everything. It has been said, "we make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give." These few words could very well have been written about Andy. He truly was in a class by himself.
