Hollander, Alvin 89, beloved soulmate of Georgiana (nee Ginsburg), devoted father of Richard and Judith Hollander, Ronni and David Goldberg, and Rabbi Howard Zvi Boruch and Kaila Hollander, proud Papa Al of Scott and Jill Goldberg, Frannie and Bob Goldwin, Dovid, Eli and Chavi, Simy, Yudi, and Aidel Hollander, great-grandfather "Opa" of Stephanie and Lindsey Goldberg, Schmuel Isaac Hollander, and Madelyn Goldwin, dear brother of the late Ruth (Nate) Cohen, brother-in-law of Ruth Weiss and Lucille Eckels, missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and golf buddies. Longtime owner of the Esquire Restaurant in the Chicago loop. Chapel service Tuesday, 2:30 PM, at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. I send condolences and love to the entire Hollander family on Alvin's passing.
I am David and Ruth Breitbart's niece, Idene Goldman. My parents were Lee and Marshall Goldman, and my mom was a hostess at the Esquire when my parents met, well before my aunt and uncle moved to California. We saw Alvin so very often, and I remember the past with fondness and great respect.
