Preceded in death by his mother and father Erna and Alfons De Groodt (nee Becker), brother William (Ardice) De Groodt, sisters Leona (Hank) Stashak, Erna (Fred) Westaway, Irene (Edward) Zelnis, Margaret (Steve) Mosney, Rita (Robert) Ladd, his wife, June De Groodt (nee Kelleher), and his son Michael De Groodt. Loving brother to Ruth Stadter (late Jim) and Robert De Groodt (late Dolores). Loving Grandfather of Danelle De Groodt, Michele and Sean Parmeley, Emily and Alyssa Earls, Sean and Erin Drexler. Loving Great Grandfather of Laney, Cole, and Nolan Parmeley. Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law to Stanley Moscinski (Betty) and the late Albin Moscinski (late Dolores). Alfons was a former head usher and Eucharistic Minister at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Frankfort, IL, and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph in Manteno. He helped many Senior Citizens through his volunteer work for SHIP at St. Mary's Hospital. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, 291 N. Main St., Manteno, IL 60950. Funeral 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno. Interment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. Memorials to Provena St. Marys Hospital Foundation.
