I loved Alan Artie Mitchell because, as with the 1,000-plus friends Bobby and Mark "Sparky" brought over to 866 Marion Avenue over the years, Alan made me feel like I was his third son. So, I think that for the next 30 days, I will just refer to myself as, Douglas B. Mitchell. Most of my friends are my friends because they have spectacular dads. One of my great joys has been getting to know the dads of so many of my friends. There was certainly no better father than Alan Mitchell. I am quite sure that no man ever loved his two sons more than Alan loved Bobby and Sparky. Of course, that goes for Barbara as well. I have no doubt that until his final breath, Alan believed he was the luckiest man alive because Barbara agreed to marry him. I celebrate Alan´s life because he was a part of our lives for so many years, and we are all far better off for having known him. Yes. Alan is irreplaceable. His memory is for a blessing. What would the magnificent Coach Harbaugh scream about Alan? "Who had it better than Alan? NOBODY." GO BLUE!
