To the family and friends of Abraham Guttman I am sorry to hear about your loss. May the God of comfort be with you during this time

July 31, 2012

I was always in awe of you, Abe, from the time I was still wet behind the ears with fund-raising, but you, Jeffrey and the fabulous Pearl, showed me the ropes and I was off! We were off to a friendship that never missed a beat....from perogois to kasha and varnishkes...you knew what good was! Be at peace and know how much you will be missed.

Love,

With deepest sympathy to the family during your time of sorrow. Psalms 46:1 says: God is for us a refuge and strength during this difficult time and may God grant you the comfort to endure.

Abe was a good friend, always good company with great sense of humor, and knew more about restaurants than anyone I know. Once driving with him from 2000 N. to 5600 North along Lincoln Ave. he commented on nearly every restaurant we passed. At age 94 he wondered aloud whether he should switch his primary care physician to a gerontologist. When asked if there was any assistance he needed when we dropped him off after a lunch together, he replied: "Can you lend me 50 till my next fight?" The "Luncheoneers" will miss him sorely. We share his family's loss.
