We miss you Tom and think about you frequently. I talked to Schroder and Hartman during this pandemic and it gave us the opportunity to discuss the meaningful affect your presence had on all of us. Hartman is a account in Santa Monica and Schroder

I would like to my express my condolences to Tom's family and to all who loved him.
I knew Tom from about the age of 3 when he lived down by the prision in Pontiac and we played on huge tractor tire swing in his back yard to recent reunions in Chicago. We were particularly close during High School, when we hung out together continuosly, often driving around the country in his Buick station wagon, talking about books (he was one of the few people who actually liked Dickens), singing sea ballads, having a brew or two and eating saltines.
What really impressed me about Tom was that while he was definately one of the best and the brightest and even after great success in his legal career he was alway way down to earth with a great sense of humor.
He was a great friend, a wonderful man and will truly be missed.

To the Gardner family:
It was my supreme honor to work with Tom at Jones Day for several years. He took me under his wing, and for that I am very grateful.
There are so many things that made working with Tom a pleasure. He treated everyone with great respect, even a young associate like me. He never made unreasonable demands. He had a terrific sense of humor and was fun to be around. He commanded the respect of everyone he encountered, not through bluster or bullying, but through the power of his intellect and the strength of his character. What an amazing example he set for the young lawyers he loved to mentor! I am so lucky to have been one of them. I will miss him.
I hope you all are able to find strength and comfort in each other and in your memories.

To the Family of Tom,
I grew up with Tom like many of his classmate in Pontiac, IL. We were particularly close during the 4-8th grades. Tom was a “class” guy then and am pleased from reading the many comments of his more recent friends that he remained a “classy” guy. I’m sorry I
haven’t been able to have remained closer. I regret your having pain, grief and a void at this time.
May our God and Savior meet your needs during this time.

I remember growing up with Tom in Pontiac and all the wonderful times we enjoyed. He was a great friend who stayed in touch over long distances. His smile was ever present and he was quick to share a cute joke -- usually of a political nature. Tom never let success change him. We will miss him.

I not only went to school with Tom at Pontiac, but we were neighbors right after our family moved to Pontiac from Saunemin. I hadn't seen Tom since our jr. yr. until our 45th class reunion in August of last yr. He was still very pleasant to talk with. All of his family and friends have my deepest sympathy, Marsha {Lorance} Forbes

Dear Enid and the entire family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of such a wonderful presence in all our lives. Every day he said or did something that showed how very much he loved you. His family was everything to him. I'm sure you know that I have no real words to express how very much he meant to me through 17 years of working together so closely. I already miss him, especially his quirky sense of humor. I even miss our spirited disagreements (even the ones I lost). Jones Day won't be the same without him. I pray God's peace will embrace each of you.
