My fond memories....for as long as I can remember Uncle Tom has always touched my heart. During my childhood in hard times on the holidays like Easter and Christmas he would come over to our house with special dunkin donuts and gifts or food. We just knew he was coming...not by word of mouth but by knowing it in our hearts. We would just wait for his car to pull up and hear the front doorbell ring for his smiling happy face.
I remember sleeping over at Aunt Virg and Uncle Toms house and causing havoc in the basement and how sweetly they put up with us kids.We made up a nickname for uncle Tom and we started calling him uncle Willie when we spent the night or just spent time visiting...not sure he liked it but he was always loving and receptive.
I loved spending New Years with the family as well.....we always had a great time bringing in the new year with lots of laughs and full bellies at their home! I always had such a great time.
I recall sharing my memories and feelings with him a little while back and I thanked him for always making the difference for me as a child....we both cried and hugged. I am happy I was able to share with him my love and gratitude.
Love you and miss you Uncle Willie!
