I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Ted, we met in a materials science camp in Missouri in 2007. We have maintained email exchange on and off ever since. Ted was always a first principles thinker, and said what he meant. He gifted me a Quantum Physics book for my Wedding, which we joked would have been a better way to spend our time than improving market efficiency, sadly the world valued finance over physics and we both ended up pulled in by market forces.

Lisa, I am so incredibly sorry for Ted’s passing. My heart breaks for you, Wayne, Colin and Tyler, as well as your extended family. May God bless you and all of your family in this time of sorrow. Ted was a great mind and a great kid. I will always remember him as the smart teenager he was in high school. And when I would tell Clay he was smart(when he doubted himself, which he did a lot) he would say no Ted is smart. Clayton sends his condolences as well. Wrapping my arms around you with love and peace.

We remember Ted, the Kindergartner we first met, our son´s classmate, the Scout on a campout or a high adventure trip. We care so much for his family and hurt so much for your loss. Our hearts are with you.

I’m very saddened to hear of the passing of Ted Hilk. I have been friends with both of his parents for over 40 years. As Ted grew up, Wayne would share with me how smart his son was. To myself I was thinking, we all as parents say things like that about our kids.
As I got to know Ted more and had conversations with him, I realized Wayne really did have a smart kid, in fact, the smartest I’ve ever known. I remember when Ted met a friend of mine for the first time, he greeted him and said “wow, it’s an honor to meet you, I’ve never met anyone with an IQ of 182!”. Ted responded in his own humorous way, “Neither have I.”
That was his sense of humor and I enjoyed it. I always looked forward to conversations with him about many things. One conversation in particular that I recall was about Christianity. Ted commented that Christianity could be proven by science; something no other religion could. Other topics that he didn’t know about in the moment he would research diligently until he found the answer. I admired that about him.
I pray for peace and comfort for Wayne and Lisa and their entire family. Ted will be greatly missed by many.
