Stanley Weber Obituary

Weber, Stanley A.

We are saddened by the loss of a great man, Stan Weber, and want to celebrate in the many joyous memories he left behind. Stan was born to Anthony and Georgia Weber July 7, 1941 in Brighton Park, Chicago, a neighborhood which nurtured his love for history and his Polish heritage. After high school graduation, Stan joined the Navy and became a missile technician and helmsman on the U.S.S. Dewey, and you'd be lucky to hear his stories of the 1962 Cuban blockade or the time he steered the ship into the NY harbor.

After his service, Stan enjoyed 30 years as an IT specialist, writing several books to share his knowledge and expertise, retiring in 1999 to explore his other passions. He was a true renaissance man. From hiking the canyons of Zion, to photographing New York graffiti art, to chasing raccoons away from his beloved Koi pond at home, Stan was never short on interests. To spend time with Stan was to pick up his infectious curiosity for the world around him - he was an amazing photographer, cook, gardener, and a world class pickler. Stash was generous, always ready to share a laugh or a delicious recipe he brought back from Rome.

His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He is survived by his children Tony and Denise Weber, Chris and Mark Kowalewski, their mother Mary Ann, grandchildren Lauren Weber, Colin and Avery Kowalewski, loving family Laura, Jordan, and Whit Klepper-Grey, and his lifelong partner, kindred spirit, and co-adventurer, Alice O'Hara.

There will be a private ceremony with close family, and a celebration of life to follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to donate in Stan's name to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Modell Funeral Home: (630) 852-3595 or www.modelldarien.com.

To Alice and Stan's family. Just heard about the passing of Stan. Cannot tell you how sorry I am to hear of his passing. My heart is heavy with disbelief. He was our neighbor for many years. Always a wonderful smile like the one in this picture. Very helpful and friendly. He took so many pictures of our lillies. I know you were loved and are greatly missed. Take care..Pam and Frank Kauzlarich

I first met Stacey when he worked as a teen at Chester´s Pharmacy at Francisco and Archer. I bought my comic books there and a couple years later when I met my best friend Ted I learned they were cousins...always kind and never without a smile. 65 years later I can still see him at Chester´s.

I worked with Stan at Griffin Wheel Company for a number of years. I always found him to be the most understanding man when he tried so unsuccessfully to explain the Unix system. A great guy...I'll miss him. My compliments on the obit.

So much to say of such a special person. What an amazing and lovable uncle. I will forever cherish all the fond memories of time spent with him, the family parties, the visits to the condo in Chicago for the holidays, I loved to see the photos of all the different places Uncle Stacy had gone to. The jumbo teddy bears he gave to Cody and Cassandra, and the cigar boxes of change that they loved getting when they were little. Also an amazing big brother to my mom. She loved her brother so very much and loved to spend time with him of course going to their favorite place, the arboretum. I´m deeply saddened that we weren´t able to spend more time together in the last several years. You lived your life to the absolute fullest and created a beautiful memoir of your amazing time here with friends and family. You will be greatly missed.
