What can I say about Dr. Cobbs?! I LOVED her so much! She was my FAVORTIE Doctor. I hated getting shots, but she always made me feel better. She was Pediatrician from birth. I remember begging her to see me until I had children of my own. Toward the end of her practice in Chicago on Western, I came into the office for a routine check-up. I walked toward the back where she was seeing a patient and spoke. She said, "Hey nothing. Scrub up and get to work!" I said, "Huh?!" She told me, "You know the drill. Get gowns for the patients and make sure the parents fill out the proper papers. I'll be there in a minute." I had a mean mug but I did it just for her. She had a way of making the children feel safe in her care.
To her family, you have my deepest and heartfelt condolences. The Stevensonyoung family appreciates the opportunity to share her with you all. Thank you for allowing us a glimpse of your everyday existence with her. We love you Dr. Cobbs and we will miss you!

My sincerest condolences to the Cobbs family. Dr. Sarah Cobbs was the most wonderful pediatrician to me growing up. I spent so much time at her office on Western, she was like my second mother. I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. Once when I was really sick, my mom didn't have a car that day, and Dr. Sarah came to our home to examine me. My parents and I still talk about that till this day. Nobody could believe she made a house call. They were so grateful to her. She said I actually had the worst case of chickenpox she'd ever seen, and she was sitting there crying with my mom. I always thought she was so beautiful too. I just wish she was still here to be my children's pediatrician. She will be greatly missed, and we will all remember how lucky we were to have her in our lives.

To the Cobbs family, I offer only my sincerest condolences after hearing of Sarah's passing this morning. I have nothing but the most indelibly fondest memories of her and her old office on S. Western Av. while growing up on the Southwest Side during the 1980's. She shined forth with an indomitable beacon of energy and heart during each visit my family spent in her care. And every gift of school artwork I gave her hung on her office walls never to be taken down for many years later! From pre-school all the way thru my college vaccinations, she was a very dear friend who saw me grow up through so much...and I'm ever so grateful to have known her in my life, God Bless...

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Sarah was such a friend and colleague when she was working at LCM. When I had my own children there was no question of who was to be their doctor. She cared for them with compassion and humor. She laughed heartily about my kids antics. I know she did this for countless others. Her family was lucky to have her.

Dr. Cobbs,
I had always thought you would be around to be a pediatrician to my own children someday, but I guess I took too long. I wanted my children to start life with a warm, caring, dedicated professional who gave you the best care...like you did for me and my brother when we were children. As a person, you were precious and an inspiration. As a doctor and professional, you were a rarity. May God give you everlasting peace and rest and love. To Sarah's family my deepest condolences.
With great sympathy,
Charlotte Banks

It is with great sorrow that I have learned of the passing of dear Dr. Sarah. Dr. Sarah was the most kind and loving doctor, unparralleled in my experience. She tended my children as if they were her own through many hospitalizations and illnesses. This past Saturday at my daughter's wedding we spoke of her and how we wished we could see her again and have her share in this special day. It appears the angels guided her there. God bless you, Sarah, and shower upon you the love, rest and comfort that you gave so freely and lovingly to us all.
