Sandy Huyler Obituary

Huyler, Sandy

Sandy Huyler, 87, Park Ridge Illinois, born October 30, 1937, to Harry and Josephine Giannoni in Chicago. Loving wife to Jim Huyler for 61 years; devoted Mother to Jay Huyler and Michael (Becky) Huyler; Grandmother to Daniel & William Huyler and Isabella & Olivia Huyler; dear Sister to Karen (Bob) Brandenburg; Aunt to Chris & Rob Brandenburg, Jennifer (Bob) Stewart, Julie & Mark Davis, Jill & John Ruggles, Brenden & Cheryl Huyler, Dana & Mary Ellen Huyler, Stafford Huyler, Kevin & Anne Gotwals Huyler, Ryan (Korey) Huyler, Holly (Tom) Ewig, John (Sylvia) Huyler, Peggy (Bob) Vosmaer, Tom Rees, Mike (Laura) Rees, Bill (Susan) Rees and John Benjamin Rees.

Sandy was a very special woman. She was a proud graduate of the University of Illinois where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Sorority. Soon after graduation – she served as a 7th grade teacher at Mary, Seat of Wisdom Catholic School. In a testament to her character – one of her prized students, Tim McAuliff, still stayed in contact with her some 65 years later. After getting married – she started her new career – as a loving Mother to Jay and Michael. There wasn't a sporting event that took place where Mom wasn't in the stands cheering her sons on. She also had the time to take up golf at Park Ridge Country Club and serve as the President of the 20th Century Club Juniors. Later in life – she developed a new passion – sharing all her love with her Grandsons Daniel & William and her Granddaughters Isabella & Olivia.

Visitation, Friday, March 21, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 W. Talcott Rd., Park Ridge, IL. Memorial Mass will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at Mary, Seat of Wisdom Church, 920 Granville Ave., Park Ridge, IL. Interment private at All Saints Cemetery in the future. The sorority sister with the big smile and a wonderful chuckle, Sandy was a delightful friend. We took an Alumni Holidays trip together to Tuscany in 2007, a girlfriend trip, leaving our husbands at home to fend for themselves. Such fun! Always a true Illini, loyal Alpha Chi Omega, loving mother and grandmother, Sandy is undoubtedly now a bright star in the sky shining for all of us to see. Rest in Peace. Sincere sympathies to all.
