I was just sitting and thought of Bob and googled him and was sad to see about his passing some 18 years ago,I met Bob in 1980 at the Leaning Tower Ymca and instantly got along with him despite our almost 30 yrs in age Difference,,I always would listen to the many life lessons he bestowed upon Me and considered Him as a 2nd Father Figure,,So much so He and Sookie were guests at my wedding, He was wise and without a doubt quick witted and so very funny,I know he is missed by many and I am one of them,Rest in peace Bob

I met Bob because of Jeff Greenfield. I saw him many mornings for the past 2 years at the Park Center. He always had a waive and a smile. I admire him so much for how he didn't let his terrible disease stop him from his love of the gym. I looked for him every morning, and will miss him greatly.

I wrote this poem in memory of a
man who will be hard to forget.
Joy
People standing in line for Heaven
Asked St. Peter why there was
such a long wait.
He said, "Be patient and clear
a path folks,
"Let Bob Goldstein get through
to the gate."
St. Peter said, "Welcome
to Heaven, Bob.
"Today for you we have a surprise.
"God says you should enjoy
your time here,
So that means there'll be
no more exercise."
"Instead, He wants you to know
"How much joy He expects you
to bring,
"When you line up groups of
the angels
"And teach them all how to sing."

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the Goldstein family. I first met Bob in 1988 while working out at the Chicago Fitness Center. What a great person. We became work out partners even though we were over 30 years apart in age. He imparted on me his great wisdom on life and helped me see the positive everyday. As the generous person he was he gave me a ride to the gym daily and while we waited at 4:30 am inside his car for the gym to open we would talk about everything and anything.
I will always remember Bob and keep him in my prayers.
Goodbye.....friend you are greatly missed.

I can't say enough nice things about Bob. When he went to work for Dunbar Builders as sales manager he was insistant on hiring me right out of college against upper management's better judgement.
Bob won out and I had the pleasure of not only working with him but in devloping a close personal relationship. I can still picture Bob flexing his arm muscles in that classic pose of his. I have nothing but fondest of memories and for the private conversations that we always shared.
Bob and "Sookie" made a movie star type appearance when they entered a room. I can appreciate what a deep loss this if for his family and friends since he was so special.
Most regrettably,
Craig Newman

Bob Goldstein was an inspiration to anyone who came into contact with him in the past few months. He faced his disease with dignity and courage. Although I did not know him well, I will not forget him.

Bob was one of the 1st people we met at Park Center and we immediately bonded with him - the most wonderful man, so very kind and thoughtful. Always asking about our daughter who worked there too for a while. We are so impressed with his working til the end and with the Park Center on how they loved him.
He is already so missed.

Bob was an inspiration to so many people and particularly to me. I met him through the Park Center, when I had little enthusiasm for physical fitness. I thought I'd try a trainer and chose Bob randomly.
He always had such a positive, fun and balanced outlook. Once I said to him that my problem was that I drink too much beer on the weekends. he looked at me and said "better change to Scotch".
That's the way I'll always remember Bob. He was positive and always encouraging... an original.
He'll be so very missed. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy goes out to his family.
